16/05/2024: Nonoja Cafe On monday we headed to Empoli to visit my friends family cafe Nonoja. Here not only did we have a fabulous afternoon in their company but we enjoyed some amazing food and wine. The cafe is set on an industrial estate and all the locals head straight to nonoja for lunch. They also do deliveries to all the local businesses. When we arrived the family came out to welcome us with open arms. We had a little chat with the team before being seated for lunch. It wasn’t very long before the cafe was full with over one hundred customers and as we found out it was not hard to see why because the food is not only delicious but excellent value for money. We started with an aperol spritz before the festivities began. First to arrive was the amazing Artichokes followed by a stunning Linguine Vongole. They then wanted us to try the Olio Aglio Pepperoncino Pasta and it was delicious. Next to arrive was the Bacalao with sweet leeks followed by the fried Rabbit with potatoes. We then enjoyed a fantastic main course of Beef Stew with spinach all washed down with an amazing Barbanera Toscana. We finished with a coffee before enjoying some time with the team. This gave us the opportunity to Thank them all for a wonderful afternoon of great food and wine. It’s really no surprise to see why this cafe is so popular and if you’re ever near the area I would highly recommend popping in for lunch. Many Thanks to the family and all the team and hopefully we can return again soon.

25/12/2023: visitato per la cena della Vigilia di Natale. locale nuovo, davvero molto carino. personale estremamente cortese e preparato, servizio impeccabile. ulteriore nota positiva i bagni, davvero belli e pulitissimi, immacolati. molto buoni gli antipasti ed i primi della tradizione Toscana, leggermente rivisitati. un'unica nota dolente per la quale (forse anche con un eccesso di magnanimità...) do 4 stelle anziché 5 è stata la gestione di un piatto non particolarmente riuscito, i calamari ripieni di pappa al pomodoro. ordinati da due commensali, sono stati appena assaggiati. probabilmente i calamari non erano cotti a dovere, fatto sta che risultavano duri e gommosi ai limiti dell'immangiabile. fatto presente alla cameriera, ci ha giustamente risposto che avrebbe rappresentato la cosa in cucina ma, di fatto, ci siamo ritrovati nel conto entrambi i piatti a prezzo pieno. un vero peccato, una situazione che personalmente avrei gestito in maniera differente.

10/12/2023: Non conoscendo molto i ristoranti del posto ho seguito i consigli di Tripadvisor, come voti. L’ambiente sia esterno che interno è molto bello e curato, soprattutto non facile quando ci sono spazi grandi. Siamo entrati e abbiamo chiesto se c’era possibilità di pranzare, ci hanno fatto accomodare e poi abbiamo scelto fra le portate del giorno e il menù. Abbiamo preso una terrina di fegatini , pappardella all’anatra e rosticciana di cinta senese, per finire dei dolci e il vinsanto dell’azienda. La terrina era formata da due cubi che ho diviso con mia moglie, per le pappardelle che dire ricche si sapore e di carne , la risticciana si scioglieva in bocca e la terrina di fegatini con le cipolle caramellate ottime. Devo anche ringraziare il personale per la cortesia e per la qualità del servizio che non si trova in molti locali. Qui tutto di classe dal servizio all’ambiente, anche il bagno pulito e curato nei particolari. Spero di tornarci in estate, così da provare anche la parte esterna.

01/07/2024: ## Bassa Marea: a margherita pizza to remember Being a pizza enthusiast, I couldn't resist the call of the Bassa Marea Pizzeria Restaurant in Bassa di Cerreto Guidi. As always when I discover a new place, I decided to order a simple margherita pizza, an evergreen that allows you to better evaluate the quality of the ingredients and the mastery of the pizza chef. I must say that the Bassa Marea pizza really won me over. The dough was light and well-leavened, with the right degree of crunchiness on the edge and an irresistible softness in the center. The tomato was tasty, while the mozzarella was stringy and of good quality. I didn't find the basil, which would have completed the pizza with a touch of freshness, I have to consider it an error in the recipe, but it may have been missing due to the pizza chef's taste or due to forgetfulness, who knows. You could clearly see that the pizza had been prepared with care and with top quality ingredients. Each bite was an explosion of flavor that literally made me dream. In addition to the pizza, I also had the opportunity to appreciate the kindness and professionalism of the staff. The place is welcoming and well looked after, with an informal and pleasant atmosphere. What I ordered: Margherita pizza, mineral water. What I liked: Light and well-leavened dough, quality ingredients, kind and professional staff, welcoming place.

15/04/2024: I have been to this particular restaurant and I have to say that the overall experience was pleasant. The environment was welcoming, the staff courteous and attentive, and the food delicious. However, I noticed some small gaps in service and attention to detail that could be improved. Overall, a good choice for an enjoyable evening, but there is room to grow towards excellence.

03/07/2024: We found the place very pretty and the employees very nice, especially the cook Alessandro. The meals were delicious. However, we were very disappointed with our apartment. Although it was beautiful, the site manager knew there were problems with the air conditioning on the first floor and in both bedrooms, but repairs were not made. So we slept very poorly the three nights, because the air conditioning was poor, despite the employees coming and going to our room, at my request. There are no screens in the windows, so although we wanted to enjoy a nice breeze at night, we were devoured by mosquitoes. The manager still gave me some credit as compensation. We would have liked to do a tasting of the wines from the vineyard, but it was not available. I hope the air conditioning issues are fixed as we weren't the only ones with this problem.
