14/03/2026: We visited just before the afternoon break (siesta) and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere is very pleasant and welcoming. The prices are quite reasonable for such quality. A lovely touch was the chef coming out to our table several times to personally ask if we enjoyed our meal. Highly recommended for an authentic local vibe!
08/12/2025: Typical Apulian cuisine, authentic flavors, and high-quality products. Excellent service from the owner, Angela, and extremely talented chef, her husband, Stefano. After a lovely stroll through the alleys of Ostuni, Lo Spessite is ideal for a meal that reflects the true essence of Puglia. Highly recommended.

17/11/2025: The establishment is located in an old oil mill with an authentic interior. It's quite interesting, the food is decent, but the pomegranate sorbet was somewhat underwhelming, and the ice cream with six pomegranate seeds is an acquired taste. But we had a nice time, so it's definitely worth a visit.

04/01/2026: The place looks inviting, but as soon as we entered, we realized how dismal it was. The service was terrible. The staff was arrogant and rude. Three of us came here on a Sunday during the Christmas holidays. As soon as we sat down and ordered, we were told that due to the restaurant's closure for the next day, ingredients were scarce and they couldn't prepare the same entree for two of us. The pellet stove made it difficult to have a conversation without being disturbed.

09/07/2025: siamo ritornati al Frantoio certi di trascorrere giorni meravigliosi, e così è stato! Un posto magico, ricco di storia e di dettagli in ogni angolo. Il personale sempre cortese e professionale attento alle esigenze degli ospiti e pronti ad accogliere le loro richieste. Le camere ben curate e spaziose e curate in ogni particolare. Posizione comodissima vicina a qualsiasi bella località si voglia visitare e poi, al ritorno, una comoda piscina aspetta gli ospiti che vogliono rinfrescarsi all'ombra dei meravigliosi ulivi o con un gustoso cocktail. Piante, giardino ovunque, pavoni, ulivi secolari. Insomma, un posto magico che è diventato posto del cuore
09/07/2025: Yet another highly overrated restaurant on TripAdvisor! We were four for dinner and did the wine pairing along with the tasting menu. The food overall is mediocre at best. Some dishes like the chicory (which i normally love) were tasteless and blah. No dish rose to the level of delicious. The wines were fine. You get three glasses across eight courses. A white, a rose, and a red. All serviceable but not outstanding.
The service on the other hand is weird. Very disorganized. Sometimes rude. We reserved a table some weeks in advance and confirmed via email the day before. We were told dinner service starts at 8:30. We arrived at 8:30 to find the tables mostly all full with diners well into their meals. There was no host to greet us and we stood awkwardly in the courtyard waiting to be helped. When we could finally get someone’s attention, a waiter came over and searched for our name but couldn’t find it. When we paid the bill later that night we were informed the reservation was under BOTH my last name AND my wife’s (different) last name - but when trying to get seated, I provided my name and we were told that they could not find our reservation. After we finally asked whether the reservation was under my wife’s name, the waiter saw that this name was on the list, and we got a surly, “so it’s your mistake!”
We also stated on several occasions that one of our family has an allergy and this was confirmed twice via email. Yet upon sitting, the server was taken by surprise by this request and needed to go talk with the kitchen.
The rest of the meal was a rushed series of mediocre dishes and wine.
In food and service, this restaurant does not rise to the level of excellent. The food is only mediocre and the service is disorganized and often rude.

27/06/2025: Fuera del calor en una vieja bodega. Gran personal. Buena comida local a diferencia de las trampas turísticas en la plaza principal.
Muy recomendable.
14/06/2025: Nuestra primera noche en Ostuni después de conducir 6 horas para llegar allí. Elegimos este lugar porque estaba cerca de nuestro apartamento. El aperitivo de queso estaba delicioso. El plato principal con berenjena no era bueno en absoluto.

23/09/2024: Lekker gegeten, alleen geen goede bediening. Vragen om de menukaart, lege borden worden niet weggehaald en we wilden koffie bestellen maar er kwam geen bediening.
Wel € 3 pp ( x4) voor de bediening afrekenen (coperto bistrot).
Beetje jammer....
22/09/2024: Deze plek gekozen, omdat het op het grote gezellige plein ligt en het er netjes uitzag. 2 plankjes genomen, prima. Het uitserveren ging zeer rommelig . Bijna elke bestelling werd eerst bij vreemden aangeboden en dan uiteindelijk bij degene , die besteld had . Vreemd . Prijzen waren aande hoge kant, maar dat neem je voor lief, maar de coperto , 3 stukjes brood voor Euro 6 is toch wel te gek. Bij navraag werd gezegd, dit is voor de bediening.

06/05/2025: Je geraakt er door de kleine straatjes van Ostuni. Super goed gegeten in dit kleine, gezellige restaurant. Mega vriendelijke bediening door Rosetta en Rosa. Elke tafel kreeg een brede glimlach en een uitleg in het Italiaans, Engels of Frans. Betaalbare kaart voor elk wat wils, de wijn zou iets goedkoper mogen. Water is San Pelegrino en Soda stream toestanden zoals je steeds meer in restaurants vindt. Doe zo verder!
