21/02/2026: Diodona is a gem nestled in the greenery of the Lombard Prealps, between Varese and Como: an old farmhouse transformed into a refined venue, surrounded by several hectares of parkland with a garden, a greenhouse, and a slow-paced atmosphere. The ambiance is elegant yet warm, rustic-chic with touches of class—perfect for intimate dinners, special occasions, or weddings, but also for a gourmet evening without the overly formality. The service is attentive, professional, and friendly, with a relaxed pace, sometimes almost too relaxed, that perfectly complements the location. We started with a canapé (on a black base, probably squid ink bread): not bad. Marinated or smoked salmon with a spiced cream, currants, and micro-herbs. Fresh, balanced between smoky, acidic, and creamy. Followed by a platter of cured meats and raw meats: firm and flavorful beef tartare, sciatt soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, excellent prosciutto crudo, bresaola, salami, and several types of cheese. The quality of the ingredients is evident, the presentation elegant without being overbearing. As for the first course: ravioli in rosé cream: the most memorable dish. A velvety sauce (light bisque), generous pieces of fresh shrimp, citrus zest, and fine herbs. The sweetness of the crustacean, the citrus acidity, and the perfect creaminess—impeccable, yet not heavy technique. Finally, two delicious options. A nougat parfait with Aurum sauce, and I absolutely loved the blueberry tart with its grappa ice cream. One was creamier, with vanilla cream, yellow coulis, fresh red berries, and strawberry—fresh, tart, and not cloying. The other was a shared dessert with grappa ice cream, moist, delicious, and beautifully strong. In short: high-quality, seasonal cuisine with attention to the ingredients, meticulous presentation, and balanced portions. The timing between courses could be improved: waiting more than half an hour for a first course seems a bit excessive.

Fabio, the owner, is the true added value: with rare mastery, he knows how to describe every dish, every ingredient, every gastronomic experience, making you feel part of a story built on tradition, passion, and respect for good food. Listening to him is as much a pleasure as tasting his dishes. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming; you immediately feel at home, pampered and cared for with sincere attention. Each course is a journey, prepared with care, balance, and true flavor. A restaurant where you don't just go to eat well, but to enjoy an experience. Highly recommended for those who love exciting cuisine and timeless hospitality. ❤️🍽️

25/01/2026: Farfalle pasta with shrimp and zucchini, cuttlefish with peas, mixed salad, bread, water, wine (not just a quarter, but a whole bottle), coffee, and, to top it all, a generous helping of bergamot cream liqueur. The business lunch menu is the affordable and increasingly rare €13, all-inclusive, with various options and a different menu every day. On another occasion, I enjoyed the "octopus Luciana-style" (€13) and the "calamarata with squid" (€17) à la carte. There are numerous "made in Terryland" pizzas, among which the Pugliese and Calabrese stand out (and I'd love to see them). The latter represents the essence of the restaurant, typically Southern Italy, with its inevitable kitsch overtones. They may turn a blind eye to aesthetes, but are tolerated by those who find them entertaining. However, they are compensated by the opportunity to read books, some of them quite interesting. An unusual and commendable strength. Finally, the large display of calendars from the worthy Carabinieri and the venerable Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) can perhaps explain the existence of the "Sugo alla Corte d'Assise" (Assize Court Sauce), which can be purchased for €5. Its origins are worth knowing from the friendly, hard-working owners, originally from Gioiosa Ionica. Did you understand this service?

28/02/2026: Wonderful culinary experience. Excellent quality food, excellent preparation and pairings. The plating was meticulously crafted, as was the service. We were literally pampered by the chef. I can't comment on the prices because the tasting menu was a gift from friends. We'll definitely be back.

14/01/2026: I went last night for the first time and it will also be the last. The starters and meat were good, the fish main courses inedible. We didn't even eat one of three different courses. What surprised me was that when it came to the bill, knowing that the three courses were brought back whole and they had asked why, and we kindly explained why, they didn't have the good sense to discount those dishes. We paid for everything in full without comment, but it will be the first and last time. An experience not to be repeated.

14/03/2026: If you're in Malnate or the surrounding area, this is a bar/pastry shop you can't miss. The aperitif, desserts, and friendliness are top notch. Since 5 stars are the best here, I'd give it no less than 6. Laura and Vito ☺️

12/10/2025: Incredible gelato, a true gem discovered by chance while wandering along the Lanza. Both the classic and special flavors are truly exceptional and worth trying (try the macha flavor). I hope to return soon!
