14/06/2026: While hiking, I'd already eaten at the bar and had a good experience, both in terms of quality and hospitality. Yesterday morning, my husband and I went in. I'd just bought a kaphen from the bakery next to the bar. Bag in hand, I grabbed a small piece. We'd just entered and wanted to order a classic cappuccino at the counter. The barista warned me not to eat my own food because it would be subject to fines. I argued that I had a valid receipt and that it wasn't possible. I wasn't eating, I didn't leave crumbs in her shop, and I had tried the krapfen, which they didn't have. Honestly, I thought she was joking. When it became clear that the elderly clerk was serious, we left the place. In a small town with little tourist appeal, it seems silly to start a war between shopkeepers! I'll add that I've considered a change of management because the blonde ladies I'd found behind the counter the previous times weren't there. Especially if they work on commission, they made a mistake because my husband hadn't bought anything from the bakery and was planning on getting a toastie. Since we were invited to a friend's house for lunch, I wanted to buy a bottle of something; I thought I'd find something interesting in the pub. Too bad for you. Since he replied: 1) "old" is certainly not a negative comment. It's an Italian adjective that, in this specific case, distinguishes a young member of the staff from someone with more experience; which he clearly didn't have; 2) politeness would be not to dare approach a customer with absurd requests. I didn't sit down. I didn't behave inappropriately. 3) Do you know what "pub" means? That's what the person who left another negative review meant! It's not the difference between a place open during the day and one that's open outside of the day! Study the rules of social etiquette, and not just the rules.
