Sa Funtana
Ortueri
05/08/2026: I'd heard about Mosè Cossu's Ristorante Pizzeria Sa Funtana for years, but for various reasons I'd never gotten around to going. Last Sunday, I finally went for lunch with family, friends, and acquaintances, and I can only confirm everything good that's been said about this place.
From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, family atmosphere. No unnecessary formality, just the sincere hospitality of those who welcome you: within seconds, you feel completely at ease. The restaurant is truly generously sized and also has convenient dedicated parking, a very useful detail for those arriving in groups.
Lunch was a true journey through traditional cuisine, free from the strange mixes that today are improperly called "experiences." The portions are a far cry from the meager portions of gourmet restaurants or those places that write a manual to explain the dishes and are filled with mere brochure-like words without any substance: here, we're talking truly generous quantities, but always accompanied by excellent quality.
A rich selection of meat-based appetizers of various types, accompanied by grilled vegetables, pickled vegetables, and delicious caramelized vegetables.
Two meat-based first courses featuring trofie pasta, each more delicious than the last.
A special mention goes to the red wine produced on site (directly from Mosè's vineyard), which served as the perfect unifying thread throughout the entire meal.
Two main courses: first, a "starter" with the classic pork sausage paired with the typical ortau (vegetarian salad) and a pork steak, followed by a truly oversized sliced beef steak with arugula and parmesan, accompanied by excellent baked potatoes.
Finish: Coffee, traditional desserts, and the inevitable "ammazzacaffè" (coffee-drinking liqueur) to round things off.
The staff is fantastic: kind, always attentive, and meticulous, but without ever losing that human touch that makes you feel at home.
We arrived at 1:30 PM and left the table at 5:30 PM, happy and full. What more can I say? Five full stars for everything... and now I'll be back to try the pizza.
12/04/2026: I went to try the pizza, curious about the reviews. To be honest, the pizza isn't one of my favorites. Neither meat nor fish. The dough is well-cooked, the crust is good, and that's a big plus, but I don't like the American-style sliced mozzarella; it's all greasy and too solid. It should definitely be changed for something higher quality; I didn't find any buffalo mozzarella on the menu. To recap, the dough is good, but I didn't like the ingredients. PS, we got two Margheritas! Helpful staff, spotless place, well-spaced tables, fair price.
