02/07/2025: We came for lunch with some colleagues and the experience was really pleasant. We ordered both the cutting boards and the salads: fresh and excellent quality ingredients, well presented. The breadsticks and the bread also deserve a mention: fragrant and clearly artisanal.
An unmissable gem is the Bicerin, served in the old fashioned way: authentic, intense, perfect to end the meal. Well-kept place, friendly service and a quiet atmosphere.

11/06/2025: Great discovery!! Simple, homely and delicious cuisine. I had dinner here with my family during a stay in the town of Barge and this trattoria gave a special touch to the weekend. Staff available, smiling and attentive. Fast (but not too much) in the service. The environment is very simple and informal. We ordered two mixed appetizers with which we ate easily for four, three first courses and two second courses with side dishes. Four desserts, water and house wine. The bill did not exceed 70 euros! Genuine and tasty dishes without frills but with a lot of substance, just the right portions. You really feel at grandma's house. I would return to Barge just for them. Very good!

22/06/2025: We arrived at the Locanda after a day of sports, quite pessimistic about whether they would be able to feed us since it was 5:45 pm, a time that is neither dinner nor lunch. Instead, to our great surprise, the restaurant does not close between lunch and dinner (at least in the summer, I don't know about other seasons) and is very willing to accommodate its guests! We agreed on a pretty good cutting board, they were kind because they offered us two sizes (and relative prices) of cutting board depending on how hungry we were, I found it very intelligent that they made the price explicit because at least that way there are no misunderstandings.
We had a good time and we noticed that they were already setting the table for dinner and had several reservations, which confirms to me that the food is good.
The outdoor area consists of wooden and metal benches and tables plus some plastic tables and chairs, there are also gazebos to offer shade to some tables so one can choose.
In summary: recommended!

09/06/2025: Disappointment compared to expectations from a 4 star
I stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Alter in Barge last weekend (31 May 2 June) unfortunately with a disappointing experience compared to what was expected. The official website stated the presence of a swimming pool, an element that influenced our choice, but once we arrived we discovered that it was still under construction. After expressing our disappointment, we were not recognized any type of compensation or discount, except two free entrances to the swimming pools to use as soon as they were ready (I live more than 3 hours drive from the hotel do you think I'll go back for a dip in the pool??)
The rooms are beautiful and well-kept, but the overall services, including the organization of the staff, are not up to the standard of a 4-star structure. In the morning, the same person had to take care of both breakfast and check-out at the reception, with obvious difficulties in managing both activities. The breakfast itself was rather basic and not adequately stocked: it would have been desirable to find a greater variety and, above all, more attention to replenishing what was running out.
Even in terms of hospitality and support, expectations were not met: when we asked the receptionist for some advice on what to visit or do in the surrounding area, the information received was vague, not very precise and seemed improvised, a sign of poor preparation on the part of the staff.
The staff was always courteous, but clearly insufficient in number, and the management/ownership seemed distant and not very attentive to the guests' experience.
After our reports, we noticed that the site has now been updated, finally indicating that the swimming pool will be available from July: information that should have been clear already at the time of booking.
Too bad, because the potential is there, but transparency, organization and attention to the customer must improve significantly. Approximate management.

17/11/2024: Gradevolissima locale in un ambiente naturale molto bello, vicino all’antica Trappa di Mombracco. Cucina casalinga , ottima e molto genuina. Servizio efficiente, personale gentile, non caro. Davvero consigliato.

03/01/2025: Siamo stati in cascina per il cenone di San Silvestro, locale molto accogliente, servizio all’altezza, ogni pietanza è stata servita su un piatto diverso e ben impiattata, gli antipasti erano abbinati a sapori particolari che ho molto apprezzato.
Unico suggerimento: nel menù avrei scritto “dolce” e non “dolci” visto che ne è stato servito solo uno
14/12/2024: Menù settimanale di lavoro a 17 €. Primo, secondo con contorno, dolce, acqua, vino, caffè. Non è molto chiaro cosa è incluso nel menù a 11 € sul cartello fuori. Forse alcune pietante un pò salate. Locale pulito. Servizio cordiale

04/03/2025: Andato per un pranzo di lavoro.....cibo discreto, servizio pessimo e ospitalita vergognosa. A mio parere, per i pranzi di lavoro occorrerebbe un altra organizzazione. Tempi di attesa assurdi e come ripeto.....oste imbarazzante. Impossibile prenotare.....il telefono squilla ma nessuno risponde

Da fuori non gli daresti una lira (e pure dentro non è irresistibile…) ma è un’autentica trattoria dove si mangia quel che è stato preparato quello stesso giorno (e che può finire) con un rapporto qualità prezzo (12 Euro per due portate più dolce e caffè) imparagonabile con qualsiasi altro posto, in Italia, in cui sia mai stato!

13/05/2025: Siamo andati qui grazie a dei nostri amici che ci vanno abbastanza regolarmente.
Ce ne hanno parlato bene e abbiamo deciso di andarci ed effettivamente è stata una piacevole scoperta.

Costata al blu, imbattibile
Insomma, qualsiasi cosa abbia assaggiato, era veramente buona.
Il locale è spazioso e alcune sere fanno anche musica dal vivo.
Si presta bene per aperitivi e cene, perché ha tante cose buone, sia da stuzzicare che come piatti importanti e principali.
Cosa non da sottovalutare, ha il parcheggio comodo davanti all’ingresso, e ha anche un discreto spazio fuori da poter utilizzare quando non fa freddo, per poter bere all’esterno.
Come i miei amici lo hanno consigliato a me, io lo consiglio a voi !!!!
