25/06/2025: Trattoria L’Iconcella is exactly what its name suggests: a rustic place, surrounded by simple and genuine people, just like their dishes. We discovered it thanks to a local friend who recommended it to us as a classic Abruzzo trattoria. Even though we arrived late (it was 2:30 pm), they welcomed us without any problems, which is something not all kitchens would have done at that time. We had an appetizer to share and two first courses: tagliatelle with peas, mushrooms and truffle, and tortellini with ricotta and spinach in sauce. The portions were really generous, they brought us two enormous Flemish dishes to share between the three of us… but we did our best to honor the chef, and we did it! At the end of the meal, coffee, ammazzacaffè (with a tasting of local liqueurs, since they had understood that we were “foreigners”) and a free dessert. The final bill was surprising: between the three of us we spent only €45, really nothing compared to how much and how we ate. And even after lunch they let us chat in peace until almost 5 pm, coming to greet us with a smile and a few funny jokes only at the end. A simple, authentic and more than positive experience. Definitely worth returning to.
