05/01/2025: after several positive reviews from acquaintances, I decided to try the "Al Faro Verde" restaurant together with my wife for lunch. The location is truly magnificent, probably the only positive aspect of the place. Upon entering, we were struck by the very simple and unkept style of the place: 90s-style table linens and old-fashioned cutlery, which was also not very clean. This aspect, however, would have easily been overlooked if the food had met our expectations. The room was practically empty, which immediately left us perplexed, considering the good reputation of the restaurant. As soon as we sat down, the waiter informed us that several courses were missing from the menu, greatly narrowing the choice. We therefore decide to rely on his advice, ordering a first course and a second course. My wife orders a pasta with red mullet, but what arrives is not at all what she had chosen: instead we are served a pasta with bottarga, which turns out to be probably the worst I have ever eaten. The dressing was watery and tasteless, making the dish very unappetizing. We decide not to complain, trying not to ruin the day, and we agree to "make the dish go well", albeit with great disappointment. The second course, a mixed fry (of which you can see the photo), was the coup de grace. We don't know how it is possible to get a mixed fried dish wrong in a fish restaurant, but what we were served was burnt, devoid of flavor and probably frozen for some time, so much so that the flavors of the various elements could not be distinguished. As if that wasn't enough, the bill was very high. Despite the obvious error in the main course, "very graciously" not a single euro was deducted from the total. A detail which, in an already disappointing experience, added an even more negative note. I must admit that I made a mistake in not reading the online reviews first: I see myself a lot in the negative ratings left by other customers. It's clear that this place has probably gotten a lot worse in the last year. It may once have lived up to expectations, but now it requires radical changes. it was a big disappointment. The splendid location is not enough to compensate for a neglected environment, disorganized service, decidedly below average cuisine and an unjustified bill. I hope that the managers take these criticisms seriously to bring the place back to the standards that, in the past, have allowed it to earn a good reputation.
