25/01/2025: Serata terribile
Punteggio zero
06/01/2025: We frequent many restaurants and have rarely had the need to leave reviews, also because expectations, for better or worse, have almost always been respected. Not this time, especially taking into account the price / service ratio.
Lunch cost 39 euros per person, so not a little for the current average prices (but it's not a price problem).
The restaurant is located in an old, discreetly renovated building. Below are the things that in our opinion did not work.
For the "good morning starts in the morning" series, upon arrival we realized that, contrary to what was requested with the reservation, our table was not near the fireplace (it had not been denied to us on the phone) but rather in a room where the temperature was not suitable for the entire duration of the banquet. The table, of classic make, appeared unstable and, somewhat bizarrely, it was not set with a tablecloth, placemats or placemats... nothing, the plates directly on the table. The window of the room, through an insufficiently clean glass, showed a clear view of a terrace on which a bit of everything was piled up.
Moving on to the food, we ordered, from the difficult to read menu, spaghetti alla guitar with turnips, pine nuts and raisins: the pasta was decidedly overcooked and the bottom of the plate showed a little water released by the turnips: not the best.
For the second course we chose to take "Royal di veal" with a cream of beans which, according to the waiter, represented the side dish since others were not available (sic!); unfortunately the meat was also unexpectedly tough.
Finally we ordered dessert, a shortcrust pastry with cream. We thought it was something crumbly (as the word itself suggests), but instead we were served a solid biscuit with a very ordinary cream. To complete the job, upon our request for some water for the coffee (warm and long) the waiter brings us 2 full bottles which, annoyed, he refuses to take back since "he cannot open a bottle just for the coffee water"! Oddly enough he does this for the next table.
The 3-course lunch lasted 3 hours!
Ours is not intended to be a gratuitous criticism: what has been narrated is objectively verifiable. A restaurant that intends to convey a certain refinement must offer adequate service for the price you pay: in this case, too many things were not up to par to be able to pretend nothing happened. We hope that this review only represents an incentive to do better. Our best wishes!
