17/03/2026: Guys, if you feel like you’ve been striking out with food while you are in Northern Italy, fear no more. Barley House will make your belly happy and full. This was the first meal we have truly enjoyed and we are not unexperienced travelers. I ordered a vegan dragon burger with fries, and my friend ordered a classic beef burger with sweet potato fries. We both are so happy. Come here, for real.

23/02/2026: I visited late in the evening, and the overall experience was pleasant. The place has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfectly in keeping with pub style, with wooden furnishings and unique details that make it quaint and relaxing, ideal for an evening with friends or a quiet beer. The atmosphere really gives off the feeling of a family-run establishment, with the attention and friendliness that make you feel at ease.
There's a wide selection of beers. I had a Kwak Strong Ale, served beautifully and at the right temperature, with its characteristic, scenic presentation on a wooden stand—a detail that always makes an impact. It's beautifully bitter, full-bodied, and aromatic, truly excellent. A small bowl of popcorn is also served, which is appreciated.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and the service is quick without being rushed. Prices are average for the category.
The only complaint is the strudel: it's good, but for €6, we expected a slightly larger portion.
Recommended if you're looking for a casual yet elegant place to enjoy a good drink and a quiet evening.

29/03/2026: A fleeting visit to Gallarate brings to mind a place where good food was a given. This is because something has definitely changed today. I also recommend that waiters dress appropriately.

Everyone was friendly
They accommodated my requests, as I had allergies
And everything was more than good
We had appetizers, first courses, and second courses
Then dessert
And despite the abundance, we had a great time
The food was delicate and light
It wasn't the usual spicy and oily one
It was well-proportioned
The wait wasn't long
But we went at 9:30 PM
The place was full, and luckily they had eaten almost everything, so the wait wasn't long either
And the dessert was profiteroles 🔝

16/02/2026: The beers and atmosphere are excellent. My only small complaint is that it took a quarter of an hour to bring us the menu once we were seated. Other than that, I'll be back. The lager from the Orso Verde brewery is excellent.

10/03/2026: It's a great place for a drink and a bite to eat with friends.
It's even better in the summer because you can sit outside and enjoy a delicious aperitivo just steps from the city center.
06/03/2026: A small place, but with plenty of tables outside, with the characteristic atmosphere of a Bavarian gasthaus, but with an Italian twist.
The dishes are inviting: truly delicious.
The sandwiches and piadinas are beautifully made: no shortage of choice!
Besides Italian craft beers (which aren't to my taste), they also have excellent German beers, including a rare gem: Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier (smoked beer). Definitely worth a try. Soooo special.
Friendly staff.
Considering the type of place and its central location (in the middle of the pedestrian zone), the prices aren't at all expensive. On the contrary.

22/02/2025: È proprio vero che il buongiorno si vede dal mattino. Al nostro arrivo non hanno neanche salutato. Idem quando siamo usciti dalla pasticceria.
22/01/2025: Bel locale nella centrale Gallarate, peccato l'assenza di cortesia da parte del personale che,al nostro arrivo, non ha neppure salutato, non è previsto il servizio al tavolo e vieni letteralmente abbandonato a te stesso. Una ulteriore pecca la sporcizia rinvenuta sotto ai piedi del nostro tavolino e nel retro bottega come da foto. Mentre tenti di degustare con tranquillità la tua colazione, vieni continuamente disturbato da una responsabile che letteralmente fa i mestieri di casa vicino al tuo tavolo, non curante della polvere prodotta dal suo andi e rivieni con scopa e paletta. Un peccato veramente.
Probabilmente, non ritengono opportuno una migliore attenzione verso il cliente. Voto:3 - -
