If you're an American reading this and somehow stumbled into Specchia Gallone, well, first off, be glad you stumbled into Specchia Gallone, and second, do try Uccera for some familiar culinary offerings (with the occasional embellishment) and friendly and hospitable service. During my last stay in this town, I must have visited them for dinner three nights in a row and each visit was more enjoyable than the previous one. Their burger are not-to-miss, and each version I tried seemed to pair really nicely with the dark lager, and their pilsner was/is probably one of the most palatable pilsners I've ever tasted. No skunk funk; just smooth, floral notes that left a lasting impression. The setting is cozy and reminiscent of Bay Area "gastro-pubs" in the Mission pre-tech-boom, and the staff and patrons (and their kids) could not be any sweeter and genuine. When you go, don't be shy and pick up a box of dominoes, Jenga, or another game for the table and enjoy your stay - unlike the US, Italian establishments don't rush you out of the restaurant after you've finished dinner :) I'm glad to have such a gem near my home in Specchia Gallone and hope to make this my go-to restaurant for years and years to come as well as introducing many other people to it!
