In the heart of Verona, just a short walk from Juliet's balcony, we found Luciano's Trattoria tucked away in a small side street.
Surrounded by locals and residents, the restaurant quickly lived up to its online description of an authentic and genuine atmosphere.
We ordered two portions of pasta and a carafe of local wine. The food was tasty, though typically Italian—more of an appetizer than a full dinner.
We were somewhat taken aback by the waiter's expression, or rather, lack thereof. He greeted us rather grumpily and, without any further emotion, showed us to a table right by the entrance.
We probably wouldn't go there again. There are simply too many other options in Verona.
Just so you know…
It's a rather basic and traditional osteria, with a pleasant atmosphere. My dishes were excellent and the prices were fair. My wife said that not all the clams in her spaghetti alle vongole were good, and she had a stomach ache the next day (unfortunately, she ate them, despite having told her a thousand times that if they taste strange, seafood shouldn't be eaten). The other diner (there were six of us) also said that the baked sea bream was overcooked and therefore dry. Regardless, I found the food to be good value for money and authentic.
Typical Italian restaurant, authentic pasta dishes and antipasti at a good price. Highly recommended.

We went as a couple and shared gnocchi with pastissada, veal with tuna sauce, and vegetables cooked in water, along with a glass of wine. Everything was delicious, and the service was excellent and fast.

I trusted the reviews I read and couldn't have made a better choice.
We had lunch here during our day trip to Verona: a rustic little place, with limited seating on a hilltop away from the city center.
We chose:
Bigoli with sardines: superb!
Tagliatelle with wild boar ragù: superb!
Polenta and creamed cod: superb!
Polenta and pastissada: superb!
1 bottle of water
1/2 house wine
Coca-Cola
€61 for two, price: truly fair!
We highly recommend this little place!
