I'll start by saying that the wait staff is extremely kind and helpful. The service isn't the fastest, but I think it's perfectly paced for the type of restaurant and the offerings. The dishes are carefully prepared, elaborate, and executed with great care, and are paired with a truly interesting wine selection. I wouldn't give it five stars because the quality/quantity/price ratio is a bit too high, especially considering the nice, but not particularly interesting, atmosphere. Otherwise, I recommend it, with the caveat that the prices are slightly high.

Cosy trattoria, we did not order pasta, although the plates around looked amazing. We had starter (local charcuterie and cheese selection) and then the stracotto and the baccala. No sweets as the dessert menu was oddly not that enticing… overall satisfied.

What can I say?
Dinner with my mom; it was a fabulous experience.
The quality and extreme care in the preparation, the kindness and friendliness of the waiters, always smiling.
The prices were average for the quality of the food!
We were even offered two complimentary liqueurs at the end of the meal.
Highly recommended!

I'd always heard about Pennestri but had never managed to book. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and the waiters were really good at guiding me through my choices: finally, a duck breast done properly (with peaches, in this case). Overall, everything was good; I'd go back tomorrow.

The best meal of my visit to Rome!
A fun restaurant with excellent service and efficient air conditioning that cools diners well, very important in Rome in the hot summer.
All the dishes without exception were excellent.
For starters, chicken liver pate, melon with cheese and yogurt, and Roman gnocchi in sage butter.
For mains, saltibocca and beef heart were excellent.
The desserts were divine, with chocolate and rosemary mousse and the best tiramisu I tasted during my visit to the city.
The hibiscus in a glass and apple cider were also excellent and capped off a perfect meal!!

I loved my meal here — we didn’t get the chance to try their classic Roman pastas, but the dishes we didn’t try were fantastic. Their take on gnocchi with polenta was hard to forget. The duck was delicious. We can’t wait to go back!
