Typical Ligurian trattoria. The service is Ligurian, too: always annoyed and short on words. A zero rating for the person who did the bill and made us pay à la carte when we later found out there was a fixed menu. If you're not local, don't get ripped off and ask first. Being a cheater doesn't pay anyway... Homemade food, well-made and delicious. We had the ravioli with meat sauce and the guinea fowl.

You can't help but go there and eat the ravioli. Delicious. Worth a trip.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆ There are trattorias that fill your stomach. And then there are trattorias that, even more than that, fill your heart. Trattoria Marchin, at Via M. Ginocchio 201 in Borgonovo Ligure, seems to have stepped out of an ancient Genoese fairytale. A small and welcoming place, where everything is simple, artisanal, and sincere. The service is quick, almost like fast food, but with the soul of an old village tavern, where every dish tells a story. Here you can still meet the faces of the true Ligurian people, people who speak with that characteristic Genoese accent, dry yet warm, essential like the winter sea. On the walls, paintings by local artists accompany your meal like old, silent friends. The cuisine is one that doesn't need special effects. The punta alla genovese and the ravioli with mushrooms are authentic, genuine, prepared with the simplicity that has become a luxury today. Sitting at one of the tables, you almost imagine that, at any moment, Fabrizio De André might walk in, stop in a corner, and be lulled by the aroma of cooking and the sound of conversation, transforming everything into a song. Three full stars. Not because we're striving for perfection, but because here you can breathe in an Italy that seems long gone, yet continues to live on, between a steaming plate, a sincere smile, and the discreet beauty of things made with the heart.

Historic restaurant in the Chiavari hinterland, the signature dish is homemade ravioli, as well as the mixed fried fish, all of excellent quality.

Unfortunately, I have to revise this previous positive review. Today I returned to Marchin and was greatly disappointed. The quality of the food served was nothing like what I've tried before: ravioli with a sparse and very bland filling, a guinea fowl that was poorly reheated and woody, a tart that smelled of stale and rancid fat. The only redeeming feature was the stewed stockfish. I'm sorry, but I won't travel the many miles to sit at their table again. A clean, tidy trattoria, a classic inland restaurant, a capable and friendly manager, excellent cuisine with a classic Ligurian menu. The ravioli were excellent, the guinea fowl tender with crispy skin, the rabbit flavorful, the tart comme il faut. Loyal customers and fair prices.
