Trattoria La Canonica In Catania

Me and my 4 sisters attended this restaurant for a birthday lunch, can I start off by saying the restaurant itself is beautiful! The decor is very unique alongside the placement of all the random vintage pieces along the wall magnificent! We ordered a few dishes and the total amount (€160) was extremely affordable we live in London so the price difference for the seafood was great! If you come definitely get the grilled sea-bream it was cooked to perfection, the mussels were very tasty so was the octopus salad! The only downside was the grilled prawns I feel they could have grilled them for longer maybe split them down the middle so they are cleaned better and included more seasonings as they were very bland. Apart from the prawns everything else was amazing the service was excellent and we was even offered lemoncello on the house. I would definitely come back when we are next in Sicily.

I'll return to Catania just to be able to eat here again. It's a hidden, small restaurant with a beautiful, ornate decor and "Sicilian" service: We don't worship you, we give you service and advice if you ask. For me, it's better than having a waiter always on your heels! I ordered a Caprese salad with tomato and buffalo mozzarella, and what can I say? I wish we had this product in Spain for that salad. Not delicious, but delicious! And then I ordered spaghetti with gammon and zucchini, and that was another level! I don't understand how such a simple dish can be so absolutely wonderful. Brutal. Without a doubt one of the best trattorias I've ever tried, with a couple of glasses of house wine. Sicily on the table, you can't ask for more.

A little timeless marvel. We received a very warm welcome. I highly recommend it if you're passing through Catania. The spirit of Sicily is evident in the dishes and the atmosphere.

Fuera de la plaza principal Duomo, esta pequeña joya se encuentra en una trattoria muy sencilla con un menú muy simple, pero delicioso que debe complacer a todos los platos que existen. No vaya allí esperando una oferta de servicios de 6 estrellas, ya que se sentirá realmente decepcionado. Es acogedor y no - servicio de alboroto, lo suficientemente educado y atento; la comida y el ambiente es el juego principal - si disfrutas de un vino, la bodega es enorme - nos encantó todo.
