On our way back from a motorcycle rally in Puglia, we pleasantly ended up having lunch at this trattoria...superb welcome, sublime food, excellent wine. No waiting, top-quality homemade products. The owner is a special person, passionate about his work and does everything to satisfy the customer. Excellent. The bill is very, very fair.

Trattoria Fore le Mura is located in Assergi, a small village in the province of L'Aquila at the foot of the Gran Sasso mountain. A village that still bears the scars of the 2009 earthquake. The restaurant is small and the furnishings are spartan but welcoming. Franchino welcomes you in a simple way that immediately makes you feel at ease. His "I'll bring you" when you order makes you say "you do it"... The cuisine is traditional, home-style, but the quality is top-notch. I start with generous appetizers, and the first courses are excellent. I recommend the "chitarrina" with mountain spinach, creamed cheese, and bacon—truly delicious. By now you're practically full, but why not try two arrosticini and grilled meats? All washed down with a delicious bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The bill is more than excellent! A comfortable and relaxing place serving good, traditional local cuisine. The best of the best. A complete, authentic lunch with flavors that are a delight to the palate. Expertly washed down with Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine. All topped off with a warm welcome, brimming with Franchino's friendliness and helpfulness. Friendliness and professionalism are his hallmarks. We were completely satisfied. We'll definitely return. Thanks to Franchino and the chefs.

If there were 20 stars, I'd give them all. EVERYTHING IS EXCEPTIONAL! Franchino and the staff are wonderful, they make you feel at home. NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT THE FOOD; THE BEST ARROSTICINI WE'VE EATEN IN ABRUZZO, AND NOT ONLY WAS EVERYTHING DELICIOUS FROM THE FIRST COURSE TO THE DESSERT! If I could, I'd eat here every day. FRANCHINO, we'll definitely see each other again soon, you've become one of my favorite places.
