Okay, so here’s what happened: I sat down at Trattoria de Gabriella in Tivoli, expecting a nice, rustic lunch. You know, something light, maybe a salad, a glass of wine, with some old Italian man yelling across the piazza. Classic Italian midday fantasy. Instead, my life flashed before my eyes. Not because of a near-death experience (though the richness of the smoked cheese could have qualified), but because this meal came for my soul. First, the salad. Which, listen, was not a salad. It was a garden daydream. Leaves so fresh they were still negotiating their contract with the soil. Then came the spinach-stuffed ravioli. Imagine a soft pillow filled with the very essence of Italian virtue, then drenched with a cream and butter sauce. The pasta was made fresh probably hours before. And finally, the smoked cheese which I’m convinced isn’t even legal in some countries. The trattoria has been around forever, like, probably older than some Renaissance art, and stepping inside feels like being adopted by a family you didn’t know you needed. Make sure you wear stretchy pants.

I have been to Gabriella several times with friends. We have always eaten very well, even if we only chose the dishes of the day from the fixed menu. Hospitality, friendliness and good, fresh food at very honest prices

Buen lugar para comer si visitas Villa d'Este ya que está a cinco minutos andando. Hay varias opciones de menú con varios precios todos muy asequibles.

Trattoria semplice nel centro di Tivoli. Ottimo rapporto qualità /prezzo. Servizio eccellente. E tanta attenzione per il cliente. Ho ordinato un piatto (non tipico della cucina romana), che non aveva incontrato i miei gusti. Quando han visto che non avevo gradito, immediatamente mi è stata proposta un'ottima alternativa. Il resto della mia famiglia ha invece apprezzato i primi piatti ordinati (tipici romani). La sorpresa è stata poi all momento del conto: tolto dal conto il piatto che non avevo mangiato. Abbiamo apprezzato molto questo atteggiamento, non dovuto, e questo fa la differenza. Bravi e grazie.

Ristorante Natalino e Maurizio

12/04/2026: I'm leaving this review because, in my opinion, the place truly deserves it. I had a wonderful evening, I had a great time: there was music, we were a great group, and the atmosphere was truly pleasant. For this very reason, I'm sorry to say that, in my opinion, the quality of the food and especially the service didn't live up to the expectations of the place. Starting with the welcome: the place was packed. We had booked for nine people, but in the end, ten showed up. We politely asked for an extra seat; a very kind young man tried to accommodate us, but Mr. Gaetano seemed rather nervous about the lack of space. We stood for about ten minutes before they brought us an extra chair. After we sat down, we waited another fifteen minutes before anyone took our order: first a waiter came, then another, and finally it was Gaetano who took our order. We finally made it, though we had to wait another 10-15 minutes for water and wine before we could start drinking. On the other hand, the appetizers arrived promptly: the cured meats were good, and the fried foods were good, although I honestly expected something more, especially the bruschetta. Paying €2 for half a slice of bread with a piece of tomato and a bit of arugula on top seemed excessive. We ordered three bottles of Dolcetto, but all three were sparkling. Considering they were brought to our table already opened, without the chance to taste them first, we started drinking them anyway. I then mentioned this to a member of staff, who was very kind: she was the only one who asked the reason for the change in wine and opened the next bottles right at the table. We then switched to the Nebbiolo, which wasn't bad, but the Morellino Purosangue we ordered next was really good, so much so that we ordered four more bottles. The first courses were good overall. My only complaint: the wild boar ragù, for those who don't eat cheese, should be served with cheese on the side. The real disappointment, for me, was the tagliata: a small portion, lacking salt, oil, flavorless, and even more so, rubbery. It looked like four pieces of meat thrown on a plate. I didn't say anything at the time because, given the chaos of the evening, I probably would have waited a long time and didn't want to cause any trouble. However, I find it absurd that the €18 beef steak was delicious, plentiful, and flavorful, while the €25 Danish tagliata was so small and practically inedible. In the end, we even had a laugh with Gaetano, and we realized that after 50 years in the business, patience with people can wear thin. I do this job myself, so I can understand certain dynamics, but the fact remains that, in my opinion, the service we received wasn't up to par with the restaurant. That said, we still spent €600 on the table, and overall it was a nice evening. If I'd eaten better and the service had been more attentive, it could definitely have become one of my favorite places. I certainly don't want to teach a restaurant since 1934 how to cook, but I hope sharing my experience will help!

18/05/2026: We were there with my 2 children. They had pancakes and both were very happy with their choices. I've got sandwich and they offered plenty of possibilities about ingredients and the bread type. Staff is very helpful and positive. It is good for quick eat & go. Highly recommended! 👌
