Having gotten out of today's Bologna hearing just before lunch, I decided to take the car and try the eponymous Trattoria Bertozzi on Via Andrea Costa. Unfortunately, it's not mine, I'm not even a minority shareholder, and it's actually a portmanteau of the two owners' surnames.
Reservations are required (it seats twenty!), the friendly Bolognese atmosphere inside, the service is courteous, and the restaurant offers an excellent cotoletta alla Bolognese with a glass of Barbera Rosso!

We ate really well; the service was excellent, light, and competent, but not pushy. Everything exceeded our expectations. When we return to Bologna, it will be a must-visit.

The space is cramped and cramped. The dining room is truly uncomfortable, and one table is right in front of the
bathroom door, creating discomfort for those who need to use the bathroom and those eating at that table.
The first courses are especially good: tortellini in broth and gnocchi with pork ragù. The meatloaf left much to be desired. It was dry, and the quantity was small for the price (€18 for three pieces of meatloaf). Fortunately, the braised meat made up for the meatloaf's shortcomings. The gentleman taking orders wasn't particularly friendly.

A historic, welcoming, and authentic trattoria, its dining room is managed by a young, dynamic staff, assisted by one of the two brothers who own the restaurant. The other brother presumably manages the kitchen, which serves excellent traditional Bolognese dishes.
Reservations required; reasonable prices.

Lorenzo was fantastic! This restaurant came highly recommended by several locals, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. It has a warm, feel-good, family-style atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome.
Now, the food - simply outstanding. It was so good that we went back for a second meal before leaving. Every dish we tried was delicious. My husband especially enjoyed the Tagliatelle Strette al Sugo di Cipolla Vecchia Maniera, and I loved the Tagliata di Filetto di Angus so much that I ordered it again on our second visit.
Be sure to save room for dessert - the Salame di Cioccolato was a wonderful surprise. Thank you for such memorable experiences!
