I have traveled all over the world, dined at every type of restaurant from small to large, inexpensive to expensive, simple to complex, zero to 3 Michelin stars. I never imagined one of the best meals I would have in my life so far would come from a business trip to Bologna, Italy, but here I am. Trattoria Battibecco is a phenomenal restaurant and Chef Nico Costa is a master of his craft. A simple dressed salad studded with julienned root vegetables and a simple dressing got our evening off to a nice start. The fusilli with sautéed bacon and onion was absolutely delicious, the pasta cooked a perfect al dente. The beef filet rolled in puff pastry was simply incredible. The beef cooked a PERFECT medium rare, red in color and so tender you could cut it with slice of bread. This may be the most perfectly prepared piece of beef I’ve ever consumed. To finish, a cornicione fried shrimp and squid, lightly breaded to allow for the flavors of the seafood to shine. The only disappointing memory I will have of this restaurant is not being able to secure another reservation during my stay. Delizioso!

If you want to escape from the classic touristic places with overpriced and not so tasty food then this is definitely the place! Very interesting high quality food and service in modern but somehow cozy ambiance.

A courteous welcome, attentive and elegant but not pressured service, a fantastic cellar, quality cuisine based both on tradition and on dishes that venture on revisitations. One of the best restaurants in Bologna.

Absolutely delicious and a break from many of the more traditional places. Modern room and fresh menu. I had the risotto with shrimp & yellow curry, which was great. The “fried” shrimp and calamari served in a cone were light, airy, and actually baked.

Ho partecipato ad una cena aziendale in questo ristorante. Locale elegante come anche il servizio, qualità eccellente con prezzo elevati. Piccola entre offerta (mousse di spinaci), antipasto Tartare di ombrina con pompelmo, primo Tagliatelle tirate a mano in bianco con melanzane fritte e calamari, bignè crema chantilly con salsa al cioccolato, tutto ottimo, unica critica tagliatelle leggermente troppo unte. Ottima cena, sarebbe da riprovare se i prezzi fisserò leggermente più bassi.

Really enjoyed this place. Food was excellent, the fig risotto a particular favourite of mine, the atmosphere great in modern dining area. Add the attentive staff and you have a winner. Woud always recommend and if I was lucky to live in Bologna would make this a regular visit.
