A bit too hyped. The risotto was average and there wa a buzz around the amarone wine, which wasn’t the best as we’d hoped. The service felt rushed - as if we were ‘yet another foreigner’. The location is exceptional, food is trusted, and the prosciutto platters did look amazing. Maybe this spot is better for an Appetizer with wine, and then move on to another spot. (Or if you’re Theo Randall or another celebrity chef who’s endorsed this restaurant, then go for the whole meal.)
Excellent Italian cuisine and impeccable service! Congratulations to everyone!

Truly a highly recommended place. Excellent food, especially the tortelli filled with guinea fowl and pecorino cheese, truly delicious. The desserts, I must say, are also very, very good. The service, too, is beyond reproach: super friendly, helpful, and attentive to every customer's need. I will definitely be returning. It's a truly excellent restaurant, you feel right at home.

A truly pleasant discovery at Trattoria al Pompiere, recommended by a couple of friends. We tried to book several times without success, but ultimately decided to just drop by: with a bit of luck, we managed to get a table thanks to a last-minute cancellation.
The place was lively and quite crowded, with that authentic, slightly noisy atmosphere that makes Veronese trattorias so distinctive.
We began with a tasting of mixed cheeses, then continued with two traditional dishes: beef cheek braised in Amarone and oxtail stew, both rich in flavor and prepared with great care. All washed down with two glasses of Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore, truly delightful.
Overall, an excellent experience, further confirmed by the satisfied mood of the other customers in the dining room. A place definitely worth a visit... perhaps just arm yourself with a little patience (or luck) to find a seat!

Tucked within the historic streets of Verona, Osteria Al Pompiere offers a dining experience that beautifully reflects the culinary identity of the Veneto region. The restaurant radiates authenticity the moment you step inside: warm lighting, shelves lined with cured meats, and a lively yet intimate atmosphere that feels genuinely local rather than staged for visitors.
The meal began with a carefully composed selection of regional salumi: delicate prosciutto from Veneto, fragrant mortadella with pistachio, and a deeply aromatic speck from the Alpine areas of Veneto. The quality of the charcuterie was immediately evident—each slice expertly cut, revealing balanced fat and fragrance. Accompanying the meats was an excellent assortment of house pickled vegetables, whose bright acidity provided a refreshing contrast and demonstrated a confident understanding of traditional preservation techniques.
For the main course, the pasta with duck ragù stood out as a highlight. The sauce was rich and deeply savoury, with the duck slow-cooked until tender, creating a ragù that coated the pasta generously without overwhelming it. It delivered comfort and refinement in equal measure.
Equally memorable was the fegato alla veneziana, served with creamy polenta. The liver was cooked with precision—tender and delicate rather than overpowering—while the sweetness of the onions balanced the mineral depth of the dish. The polenta, smooth and warm, anchored the plate perfectly and reflected the rustic elegance typical of Veneto’s culinary heritage.
Dessert brought a classic tiramisu, executed with admirable restraint. The mascarpone cream was light yet indulgent, and the balance between coffee bitterness and sweetness was carefully judged. Two glasses of wine accompanied the meal nicely, further enhancing the regional character of the experience.
Service throughout the evening was attentive, warm, and genuinely hospitable. The staff demonstrated both professionalism and an evident pride in their establishment, contributing to a relaxed and welcoming dining atmosphere.
Considering the quality of ingredients, respect for regional traditions, and the authentic setting, the price point felt very reasonable. Osteria Al Pompiere succeeds in offering a sincere and memorable expression of Veronese and Venetian cuisine.
A charming and deeply authentic osteria that celebrates the flavours of Veneto with confidence and warmth.

We recently had the most memorable meal here! It is one that I am still thinking about and I know that I will think about for years to come! First of all, the service was over the top, attentive, friendly and helpful in navigating the menu and the fresh cut meats and cheeses. We ended up just asking the chef to choose which he thought we was the best and we knew it would be good. However, the dish that I can’t forget is the ravioli! It was stuffed with guinea foul and pecorino, had a dash of lemon and a light gravy that was rich and tangy and flavorful. It hit all the notes and was absolutely phenomenal. We were in Italy for 15 days and this meal was the highlight of our culinary adventures! Thank you! We might have to come back to Verona just for this!
