If you're looking for a reason to come to Pavia... here it is. I'm accompanying my daughter to her master's degree in Pavia, and Trattoria Achilli is near the B&B where we're staying. It's like stepping into a time machine and finding yourself in the '70s. But it's not fake vintage. Everything is exactly as it was 50 years ago. The chairs, the furnishings, the glasses, the menu. It's worth a visit just to see the salt shaker and the squat toilet. Even the dishes are classic and have classic names. No fake-creative inventions. Everything is as it should be. The only downside: it's only open for lunch.

The beauty of simplicity and authenticity. This is the feeling I had during my lunch at Trattoria Achilli. I truly enjoyed my stay. Signora Renata is incredibly kind; she treated me almost like a grandson, and I was deeply moved by it. It's truly admirable that an 80-year-old woman runs the place and ensures her customers are comfortable. Many compliments, indeed! I breathed in the typical atmosphere of old-fashioned Lombard trattorias, and it brought back so many childhood memories. The food was simple, but good and authentic. The atmosphere was very peaceful. The prices were fair. I would gladly return.

You have to go because these places must continue to exist, legendary Mrs. Renata. Excellent cured meats and generous first courses. The braised beef as a second course is the best butter in Pavia. Affordable prices. P.S. This is a historic place that has remained unchanged since the 60s and 70s. Truly unique. Highly recommended.
