Delicious food especially beef steak and lasagna. Carbonara is very rich and creamy.
Special shoutout to Frank for his excellent service. He’s friendly and attentive. It was a wonderful dinner.

We had an amazing experience at Tonnarello. The food is great, we had a very good pasta, and the service from Dharani was exceptional; she was super attentive and helpful. We loved the experience and will definitely return many more times.

We had a beautiful meal here as our first meal after landing in Italy! The carbonara and amatriciana were so flavourful and some of the best pasta dishes we’ve ever had, and a glass of the house wine was generous to say the least. Our server Alif was a delight, and the service he gave us made us feel completely welcome in Rome. Thank you to Tonnarello for a memorable meal!

We found this place thanks to the high number of reviews on Google Maps, and they lived up to the hype: excellent service, superb food, the best tiramisu in the area, and delicious meat.
The menu is in English, German, and Spanish, and there are bilingual servers for tourists.
We ordered ametriciana, meatballs in tomato sauce, and abbachio with tomato salad. The portions are perfect for the price, and the sides and desserts are totally worth it. You have to try the tiramisu or the chocolate cake.
P.S. There's a fountain up the street near the restaurant with a beautiful sunset view for those who come for dinner.

There were four of us eating there. The food was okay, but not particularly good. We've had much better meals at smaller, less hyped restaurants. After we finished, we felt almost as if we were being asked to leave. What was especially unpleasant was that our daughter's plate was taken away while she was still eating the last bite. We definitely won't be eating there again.

If you're looking for the authentic soul of Trastevere, away from the tourist traps and immersed in a heartwarming atmosphere, Tonnarello on Via della Paglia is a must-see. I was there two nights ago and the experience was, without a doubt, spectacular.
The Cuisine: Pure Tradition
The dinner began with expertly executed artichokes alla giudia: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, a tribute to Roman tradition. But the real star was their iconic tonnarello. The pasta, served directly from the pan, has a rough, calloused texture that holds the sauce masterfully. Every bite is an explosion of flavor that reconnects you with the world.
To top it off, the tiramisu was a cloud of pleasure: creamy, balanced, and made with the freshest ingredients.
The Atmosphere and the Staff
What makes Tonnarello special, however, is the restaurant's energy. During the evening, the staff brought a cake and candle to a guest celebrating his birthday, singing their happy birthday greetings along with the entire restaurant. It was a moment of genuine conviviality, making everyone feel part of one big family.
In short: Fast service, excellent food, and a rare sense of warmth. If you're in Rome, treat yourself and sit at these tables. I'll definitely be back!
