The cake is hard...it's hard to chew...good...but hard. Also, they were missing caciotta/fontina cheese, and they put mozzarella in there, which isn't the same thing.

Great place if you want to eat torta al testo, but also grilled meats and even some pasta dishes! The prices are good, and on weekends and even at lunchtime, I've found it incredibly crowded. Lines are usually well-managed, though! Nothing else to say! Recommended.

An interesting lovake where you can experience the typical Perugian cuisine of Torra al Testo in an informal atmosphere: a kind of flatbread, rustic and incredibly fragrant, cooked on a cast iron or stone griddle called a "testo" (hence the name) over embers. This bread is then filled on Fridays, if desired.

The staff is first rate. So nice, personable and even though we have only been there 3 times while in the area on business- they remembered us. The food is fresh and great.

08/01/2026: My husband and I stayed for New Year's Eve and left on January 2nd. We both stayed and dined at the Locanda, and it was a wonderful experience! Everyone was very kind, and the dinner was superb! Breakfast was meticulously prepared, with a different dessert made every day by the owner of the Locanda! Highly recommended! We'll be back soon! La Cantina Del Mercataccio

28/12/2025: Searching for information about this restaurant and its offerings, one finds basic descriptions, but one can easily grasp the uniqueness of the ambiance, both inside and out, and the seasonality of the dishes (hence the attention to ingredients) and the inspiration from tradition. In my opinion, "sea and mountains" is the common thread running through the various offerings, where different ingredients and gastronomic cultures (particularly Umbrian and Sicilian cuisine) find a new identity. For my appetizer, I chose brandy-infused shrimp on a leek cream with Jerusalem artichoke chips: three gradual textures, three distinct flavors that ultimately blend perfectly. For the main course, seafood orzotto. Using barley, a typical Umbrian grain, in place of the usual rice, yielded an unexpected result.
