A fantastic setting and incredibly attentive and courteous service. The setting: an experience. And then the food. A total disappointment. The scallops as an appetizer: a scallop, split at most, so in two pieces, transformed into a ball of fried batter. If you remove the more than superfluous part without breading, to be honest, it has a slightly unpleasant fishy flavor. Embarrassing. The octopus too, thickly breaded. Beautifully presented and artfully prepared, but the real disappointment: embarrassing. Then the fettuccine with truffle. Very bland. As expected, we were disappointed.

Location:
Geographically, roughly above the town of Garda.
Located along the picturesque Via Panoramica
on the outskirts of San Zeno di Montagna. Right by the road, yet quiet, with a large, picturesque garden. Easily visible from afar thanks to the many large white lanterns.
Atmosphere:
Dreamy atmosphere.
The garden faces the evening sun, making it particularly beautiful.
Numerous, themed interiors showcase the owner's finds from all over the world. There's also a winter garden. Everything is very tasteful, with subtle lighting and plenty of natural light.
Service:
Unobtrusive, attentive, some speak German and others English.
Food:
3- or 4-course menus (from €64) or individual combinations are possible.
Wine list: As comprehensive as a thick book. Impressive.
Creative, sophisticated cuisine. Unusual combinations of ingredients. Wittily arranged desserts.
Conclusion:
Away from the hustle and bustle of the lower shore of Lake Garda, the hike up the mountain is worth it in every way. So beautiful that it's best kept secret. :)

Searching for a refined restaurant, we were lured in by the inviting photos of the dishes and the excellent online reviews. The place looks like a gem: the renovation of the 17th-century building is simply enchanting, blending elegance and history in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
From the moment we enter, the staff's friendliness envelops us; every smile and every kind gesture makes us feel immediately at home.
But the real magic begins when our gastronomic journey begins. The dishes served are a sensory experience that absolutely must be experienced.
We begin with a sensational appetizer: seared and citrus-marinated scallops, accompanied by Enoki mushrooms, bursting with freshness and flavor. Next, a geometric array of vegetables surprises us with a potato cube, a carrot cube, and a brick pastry log, artistically and deliciously presented.
For main courses, the grilled sea bass steak with purple cabbage is a noteworthy dish, while the octopus tentacle, served with potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms, is a triumph of perfectly balanced marine and earthy flavors.
Finally, we can't miss the desserts, true masterpieces of creativity and flavor. "Il Cigaro del Monte Baldo" and "L'albero nel bosco" are a unique experience, desserts that tell stories and enchant the senses.
We highly recommend this restaurant and are certain we will definitely return to relive these culinary experiences.

Such a lovely evening at Taverna Kus. You can reserve on WhatsApp in advance, in English, which is really helpful. I mentioned it was our anniversary and they made an effort with our dessert. The food was delicious - we had the fish 4 course menu. We turned up on our pushbikes with helmets etc, (but dressed for a nice evening meal) - no snobbery to us - so disagree with previous reviews about needing a posh car! Will certainly come again next time we are in the area. A real pleasure in our holiday.
