Exceptional, discovered by chance. Each dish a masterpiece of taste, very pleasant atmosphere, more than honest prices

Tabarin is the place I go to eat 7 days a week without ever regretting it.
Every time I return to Reggio it is my fixed stop, except for Sunday and Monday when it is closed and I have to make other choices.
Very high quality, cleanliness, customer care.
Good, very good like few places I come across.
Years go by, I always go back and Tabarin never disappoints, in my opinion, the best in Reggio Emilia, without a doubt!

In the center of the center of Reggio Emilia in a beautiful gallery there is the Tabarin tavern. We found it while we were looking for a place for dinner and among all those we encountered, this place immediately inspired our confidence. The menu features the Reggio Emilia tradition in all its forms and facets.
The decor of the place is that of a typical tavern, very pleasant, but the outdoor terrace, located under the gallery, is truly a significant plus.
As mentioned in the menu there is everything you could ask for in a place that offers traditional local dishes with local ingredients.
We would have liked to be able to taste many more things but since our arrival in Reggio Emilia in the early afternoon there has been an incessant tasting of everything, grass, chizze, focaccia with cracklings, rice cake, sweet tortelli etc. etc.
We arrived at dinner as if we were in a sort of food coma but with the awareness of not being able to give up some dishes.
Our order consisted of fried gnocco accompanied by a selection of 3 cured meats, pork shoulder, salami and mortadella, followed by an indispensable artisanal cappelletto in capon and beef broth.
The fried gnocco was perfect, hot, fragrant, accompanied with the above-mentioned cured meats it was spectacular but with the mortadella it was at its best, a very delicate mortadella with a velvety consistency.
All accompanied by a dry Lambrusco Puianello.
The cappelletti, which I tell you to make, despite not having Emilian origins, reminded me of the ones my grandmother made for me, and when I stole them still raw from the wooden table where she kneaded the dough.
When a dish awakens certain memories in you, it can only be excellent, as was the capon and beef broth, light, savory at the right point, tasty, very good.
Reggio Emilia will certainly see us again soon and we won't fail to return to Tabarin to taste much more of what their menu offers, this time with an empty stomach for the occasion.
Polite, friendly and pleasant staff, prices in line with the quality of the dishes prepared, a highly recommended place

Every time a point of reference and at the same time innovation. Kind enough to find me a seat even when everything was booked. Excellent food, tortelli pasta for 11!!! I will return every time I pass through Reggio Emilia

Great place, long wait to eat for 6 (without reservation). Typical dishes of the local cuisine with some whims and diversions... such as fried sage. Courteous and efficient service, lots of wine in the centre, the outdoor tables are... "indoors", indoors in a sort of tunnel connecting two streets.

In the center of Reggio Emilia with outdoor tables under a gallery.
Owner and waiters (all young, knowledgeable, smiling, professional, efficient and ready to joke) are extremely welcoming. The local menu included many appetizers (the tasty, crunchy and light fried foods are highly recommended), first courses (not tasted) and second courses, of which we tried both the fried cod (as above) and the excellent and well-presented tartare. The sautéed chicory on the side was very good. The tiramisu is also not bad (particularly light). Without a reservation you risk not finding a place (even if the owner tries everything before "turning away" someone). Outside, under the gallery, dogs are also welcome 🐕.
So central it might have seemed like a "place for tourists", but instead it was a pleasant discovery, absolutely recommended 👍

Very welcoming place. We tried the fried gnocco and two first courses, all excellent, adequate portions, in particular the tagliatelle loaded with ragù. The trifle didn't convince me. Very friendly but sometimes slow service. Correct prices. Overall it was good and I would go back.

Mangiato tipico in una serata infrasettimanale. Cordialita' e gentilezza accompagnano i piatti della tradizione ben preparati.
