One of the best supplì in Rome. The service is very fast and the staff is extremely friendly (their recommendations are also excellent). The quality/price ratio is excellent. For a quick but still Roman lunch, in my opinion, it's a must. The place is very small and often very crowded.

If you're in Rome and want to discover how simple street food can be elevated to a true gastronomic experience, a stop at Supplizio on Via dei Banchi Vecchi is a must. Located in one of the most charming and characteristic alleys of the historic center, just steps from Campo de' Fiori, this place immediately stands out from the usual Roman fry shops for its refined approach and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that I'd almost describe as a living room. Behind this project is the signature of chef Arcangelo Dandini, a name synonymous with traditional Roman cuisine and the quintessential fifth quarter. The idea of dedicating an entire space to the king of Roman fried food, the supplì, is absolutely brilliant, and the result is evident from the first bite.
The gastronomic offering is a true journey between past and present. We began, as it should be, with the Supplì Classico, prepared in red with chicken giblets and beef. The breading is masterful, golden brown, incredibly crispy, and not at all greasy—a crucial detail that demonstrates perfect control of the oil temperature. Inside, the rice maintains the perfect consistency, and the fiordilatte filling creates that perfect telephone effect every purist seeks, unleashing a deep, authentic, and traditional flavor. Next, we wanted to venture out with creative variations, trying the Cacio e Pepe supplì, which proved to be an explosion of flavor, incredibly creamy and with a pungent note of black pepper that balances the saltiness of the pecorino cheese, and the Amatriciana version, intense and full of character. In addition to the supplì, the restaurant offers other Roman fried delicacies, such as the fried cream, a perfect balance of sweet and savory, and the smoked potato croquettes, also top-notch.
The interior is very refined, with a design that blends rustic elements and vintage details, leather sofas, and soft lighting. It's not your typical grab-and-go fried food shop, but a place where you'll want to stop and chat while sipping a good glass of Lazio wine or a craft beer from their selection, both designed to pair perfectly with fried food. The staff was courteous, passionate about sharing the story behind each dish, and reasonably quick with their service.
Despite the excellent food, there are a couple of details that keep me from giving it the full five-star rating. Being a gourmet experience curated by a chef, it's understandable that the prices are higher than average for Roman fried food shops. However, the supplì are slightly smaller than traditional ones, making the price-to-quantity ratio a bit unbalanced if you're very hungry. Furthermore, the limited space makes it difficult to find a seat during peak hours, and having to eat standing when the place is too crowded takes away some of the magic and comfort the decor aims to convey.
In short, Supplizio is an experience I highly recommend, both to tourists looking to discover authentic Roman cuisine and to locals seeking a refined take on their favorite street food. The quality of the ingredients is unquestionable, and the frying technique is textbook. I will definitely return, perhaps at a less crowded time, to fully enjoy the atmosphere and try the new seasonal variations. Highly recommended.

It's a small place with very little seating, but after all, we're in Rome and you eat while walking. The suppli are excellent and the ingredients are well-balanced, without any overpowering flavors. Recommended if you want good suppli in Rome at an affordable price.
