We were at the campervan rest area and, after a nice snowshoe hike, we decided to go to a restaurant for lunch. On the maps, we saw the "Baita Piste Nera" (Black Piste Chalet) and decided to go there. The atmosphere was truly mountain hut-like, the waitresses were lovely and friendly, and above all, the food was delicious! All of this, in our opinion, was reasonably priced. Recommended. Four stars because to get there, you have to walk a short distance down the piste (hence the name) or climb a short icy slope.

A typical Sappada restaurant in wood and stone, very welcoming. There are two areas: one at the entrance where you can enjoy hot drinks or cicchetti (the grappa with a hint of gentian is excellent) and another dedicated to the restaurant with about fifty seats. Excellent food, made with locally sourced ingredients, is delicious. Everything is expertly prepared and served by very kind and attentive staff. The pork shank and cheeks are excellent, the frico trio is superb, and the first courses, including the tagliatelle, are delicious. The owners (Ivana and her friend Cesco) are wonderful, and, along with the girls in the dining room, they accommodated every request and put up with our kids...

We had lunch for 4, the food was good, what we ate was good but... You can't put 4 paccheri on the plate for goodness sake... I understand everything but the dishes are really miserable, and it's not that the prices are below average, on the contrary, they are expensive like all the others, only that elsewhere at least I left full.

Beautiful location at the foot of one of Sappada's ski slopes.
The atmosphere is rustic, typical of the mountains, simple yet elegant.
We were warmly welcomed by the staff, who, despite the restaurant being full and us not having booked, let us wait and found us a nice table.
The service was very friendly, fast, and professional. The dishes they offered and recommended were
all delicious.

What can I say...it's always been a confirmation over the years. Welcoming, intimate, with a family atmosphere and the scent of the mountains. It's a treat every time, with Caterina and Ivana always leaving us with a smile that you can't help but return, and, for us, always with a "see you soon, see you next time"...!
