A true trattoria. The kitchen is open, the place is large, but the table management is lacking. It's common to find yourself dining at the same table with others, barely separated from one another. The Milanese cutlet, while delicious, doesn't reflect the true size for which it's called an elephant ear.
Friendly and quick service, obviously worthy of a Milanese trattoria.

San Filippo Neri is a guarantee: you eat well, you're treated well, and you experience the magic of a true, authentic osteria.

Very good typical Milanese cuisine at very reasonable prices. All Milanese restaurants should learn from them, otherwise they should stop complaining that people prefer sushi...

Excellent experience. The elephant ear with mashed potatoes was delicious. The waitress, Patrizia, was friendly and helpful.

Having lunch here is like getting a taste of Milan, you can have a quick lunch. The dishes are generally all good, the staff are friendly and efficient, and a great atmosphere is created right away!

Menu with appetizers (excellent tuna, fantastic mondeghili) - first course (risotto with bone marrow, truly tasty) - second course (ossobuco with polenta, as good as the ones my grandmother used to make 🥰 ) - dessert - water, bitter wine. Everything was delicious! We sat in the upstairs room (reserved all for us), we were a large group so it was quite noisy, but that's to be expected. We were served quickly and courteously. If I didn't live 200km away, I'd come back often!!

What can I say? Trattoria San Filippo Neri is a beloved place, a snapshot of a now rare world where you can rediscover the atmosphere and homey hospitality of a bygone Milan.
The long, convivial tables, the dishes to choose from from the endless list of appetizers, first courses, second courses, and side dishes that arrive at lightning speed and are so cheap you'll think you're in the wrong decade. The young staff is quick and friendly, and the owner steers the ship with a confident and affable demeanor, respected and loved by the crew, and doesn't skimp on a few friendly jokes at the cheerful tables.
For about twenty euros, you leave full and satisfied, in body and spirit, especially because you've seen proof that a better world is still possible.
P.S. The special feature that makes it even more fascinating in my eyes is that it opens at dawn at 4:00 AM... unique, I believe, on the planet.
P.S. 2. I'm from Turin and have long been organizing cultural trips to Milan, centering them around lunch at Trattoria San Filippo Neri.
