A definitive dining experience, from beginning to end.
My wife and I celebrated the last part of our honeymoon by going to San Domenico and it was a highlight of our trip. We had the tasting menu and it was simply perfect.
Service
Top-notch. The tables are few and the staff’s attention is sharp. It feels like a well-timed, curated journey that stood out from other fine dining that I’ve enjoyed.
Food
I’ll speak broadly since I understand the menu changes, keeping in mind that there are some mainstays. As other reviews have said, the egg yolk raviolo is a standout. In my mind, this is THE raviolo. There is other ravioli, yes, and other ravioli might be good, but if there is an unforgettable, life-changing raviolo, it is this one. I could go on and on. The rest of the food is incredible. Other Michelin star restaurants can lean too far into the ‘too frothy’ or ‘too conceptual’ territories, but San Domenico doesn’t need to do that. The execution lands for every single course, and the wine pairings only elevate them.
Atmosphere
It feels upscale but not outrageously so. In a way, it has the modesty of a town like Imola, but it’s not weighed down by it.
Take Home
They have some jams and condiments for you to take home. We bought a red berry jam and it’s excellent.
Recommend?
San Domenico may just be the best meal I’ve had in my life. That should say it all.

Well... not much to say about this award-winning and renowned restaurant. Impeccable, starting with the welcome. Their greatest strength, in my opinion, is that they don't try to overwhelm with innovative and astonishing dishes like other restaurants, perhaps equally renowned, but rather remain rooted in tradition, placing great attention to the quality of the ingredients, the balance of flavors, and the precision of the cooking. All this, combined with a skillful pairing of their excellent wines (if you choose, ask their sommelier), makes for a truly unique sensory experience. We chose a tasting menu with seafood and mountain dishes and we didn't regret it. There's no need to describe the individual dishes. Each one is a masterpiece. I'd particularly like to highlight the egg ravioli, which is a must-try at this restaurant.
Just one small note: the decor seemed a bit dated to us. Simple and with attention to detail, but perhaps a refresh of the materials and colors wouldn't hurt.
The cost is absolutely proportionate to the very high quality of the cuisine.

Lunch yesterday at San Domenico wasn't like dining at the usual Michelin-starred restaurant. You can feel the family atmosphere right from the moment you arrive... The restaurant is very well-maintained, with a refined table setting. I really appreciated the various types of bread. Among the various dishes (all very well received), the two that particularly impressed me were the ravioli and the liver brick. Chef Mascia masterfully balanced the liver's aroma with orange and cinnamon. Sommelier Francesco's wine pairing recommendation was also excellent. A wonderful Pinot Noir.
Thanks to the service. Impeccable.

The wine list is jaw-dropping, both for its selection and its quantity. I expected a wow factor from the dishes, but not all the dishes lived up to expectations. The service, while attentive, left me somewhat perplexed by the management of viable alternatives for long-reported intolerances. Good, but not great.

A temple of gastronomy where haute cuisine meets masterful hospitality. The legendary "Uovo in fra' di mastro" (egg in the master's hands) alone is worth the trip: a perfect blend of elegance, tradition, and authentic flavor. Simply perfect.
