The food was excellent (tear-inducing Venere rice, exceptional guinea fowl and a cloud-light apple pie), presented and described impeccably and photographed badly (by me) in a retro atmosphere.

Rustic trattoria with authentic cuisine. The fagottino and soup are superb.
The only downside is the limited parking, but that's a characteristic of the area.

Trattoria San Basilio alla Pergola is the place where you understand: happiness exists and it smells like ruddy lamb ribs. So tender that it seems they jumped from the plate straight into the heart. The waitress providing us with service is personal and absolutely excellent and a delightful bonus: she doesn’t just serve, but as if she meets an old friend, only without awkward questions like “why haven’t you been here for so long?” The waitress is so warm-hearted that there is a risk of confusing her with relatives who have finally decided to feed you properly. The atmosphere is simple, lively, without ostentatious glamour, but with that very comfort for which you go to Italy. If you are looking for gastronomic therapy for sadness and fatigue, here it is, personally tested.

Highly recommended trattoria.
The atmosphere is very pleasant both inside and out. It's located in the Porta Vescovo area, amidst the buildings, but it has a cool, pergola-covered outdoor garden.
The food is very good. A few dishes are well-crafted and made with selected ingredients (in the winter, I ate a risotto with typical "trumpets of the dead" mushrooms, something I'd never found anywhere else). In the summer, we ate fresh and original dishes (I ate a ravioli filled with incredibly soft polenta and topped with Gorgonzola). The Lugana wine the chef brought us also surprised us.
Finally, I'd like to add compliments for the service, both from the waitress and the chef, who roams the tables. A truly wonderful experience.

A very nice surprise in this neighborhood far from the center. The cuisine is delicate and elegant. The prices are very reasonable. This is the best restaurant we've been to since traveling in Italy.
