Quiet and intimate, with a good refreshment area and internal parking.
The choir and internal staircase are beautiful.

I've been touring the abbeys of Lombardy, this is one of them. Visiting it during the week is ideal, very beautiful and intimate.

A delightful Cistercian abbey just outside Milan. The monastery complex is located in the South Milan Agricultural Park, surrounded by greenery. It has two side entrances and a perfectly preserved 17th-century narthex. To the side of the abbey is the delightful cloister, absolutely not to be missed. Like the interior, some areas are richly frescoed, while the cross vaults are bare. Another gem is the 17th-century wooden choir, made of walnut wood, inlaid with cherubs, saints, and decorative pilasters. Outside, the octagonal tower dominates. To fully appreciate the beauty of the place, I recommend a guided tour; it's well worth the expense. There is also a small shop selling artisanal products.

Chiaravalle Abbey is located a few kilometers from the center of Milan, within the South Milan Agricultural Park. The monastery was founded in 1135 and is still inhabited by Benedictine monks today. Inside the church are magnificent frescoes by Bernardino Luini, while the bell tower, also known as the "Ciribiciaccola," is visible from the cloister. Guided tours are available on weekends, while on weekdays, convenient audio guides allow you to explore while listening to the history and admiring the frescoes. It is said that it was here that the Cistercian monks developed the recipe for Grana Padano DOP. The Monks' Shop inside the Abbey sells gastronomic specialties, many of which are produced by the monks themselves.
