21/01/2025: Looking through those restaurants with a long-standing reputation, I turned to the Michellin guide and found Vicolo Columbia. My research was well rewarded in choosing somewhere renowned for traditional and classic dishes associated with the city. Situated a stones throw from the main square, on a cosy side street, this restaurant is wonderful inside. Relaxed but perfect atmosphere. Service was superb, and we were made very welcome. Starting with anti-pasti and local wine similar to prosecco called Pignoletto, the parmesan cheese was exquisite. The frigatto bolognaise is also worth a try. Our first course of two was pasta. I had the capon broth, and the tagitelli and ragu were also immense. Second course, the steak was exceptional, with truly outstanding spinach. The roast potatoe was also very tasty. The pumpkin dish my dining partner had was also amazing. The red wine was also excellent. Desserts looked fantastic, but we were too full. This is a superb restaurant with traditional food served to a very high standard. If you want to taste Bologna, then this is somewhere I would consider. Thank you very much for a wonderful evening.
