Ristorante Palazzo Branciforte In Palermo

29/05/2026: Palermo's only Michelin-starred restaurant. I always make a point of visiting a Michelin-starred restaurant during my travels, so I made a reservation in advance to visit during my trip to Sicily as well. To start with the conclusion, I am not sure if it was worth the 200 euros per person price tag. While there were experimental and creative menu items, the flavors of the food were generally not very pleasant. The service and atmosphere were befitting of fine dining, but the English descriptions of the dishes were generally difficult to understand. If asked if I would visit again, the answer is no. There are plenty of alternatives where you can dine for 400 euros for two people, including tip.

28/05/2026: What an unforgettable evening at MEC in Palermo! Located in the heart of the historic center, in an impressive 16th-century palazzo almost directly opposite the cathedral, this restaurant offers a truly unique experience. Just the opportunity to step out onto the balcony after dinner and enjoy the view over Palermo is the perfect end to a special evening. The ambiance is exceptional: elegant rooms adorned with artistic frescoes, combined with a fascinating exhibition about Steve Jobs – a successful blend of history, culture, and modern inspiration. We were absolutely thrilled with the food. Chef Carmelo Trentacosti interprets Sicilian cuisine creatively and at the highest level. The famous caponata, served here as a velvety sauce with delicate shavings of Modica chocolate, was particularly memorable – simply fantastic, especially with the homemade bread. The selection of exclusively Sicilian dishes and wines was especially impressive and perfectly suited to our needs. The service was also consistently attentive, warm, and highly professional. The cheese trolley before dessert is another highlight. A truly perfect evening – highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience authentic yet modern Sicilian cuisine!
