A highly recommended place. The restoration by Gae Aulenti is fascinating, and the pawnshop rooms with their ancient scaffolding are impressive.

Great museum, very nice place, excellent selection of Sicilian history - pottery, coins, stamps, huge library. You cannot just walk up and buy a ticket. There are guided tours at certain times of the day. They may list tour times somewhere but we couldn’t find them on line.

A beautiful museum collection derived from a palace and private collection. It recounts ancient archaeological history and the active cultural life, with the renovation commissioned by architect Gae Aulenti to include a library and rooms with rich art books. Visiting the pawnshop with its puppet theater installation is a piece of history. The guide was very knowledgeable and kind, accompanying us throughout much of the visit.

Palazzo Branciforte houses a wonderful collection of ancient ceramics, coins, and other items, as well as temporary exhibitions. Its former puppet workshop is particularly interesting, not only for the age and tradition of this Sicilian heritage, but also for the scenes, characters, and stories it recreates. With a guided tour, general admission is €8, with reduced rates available. Palazzo Branciforte is one of Palermo's most fascinating sites, both for its architecture and its art collections. This historic palace is located in the heart of the city and offers visitors a unique insight into Sicily's noble past, blending historical heritage with contemporary art. Built in the 16th century, it has undergone several transformations and has managed to maintain its original splendor with a modern twist thanks to the restoration carried out by architect Gae Aulenti in the 1990s. It is located at Via delle Botteghe Oscure, 4, in the heart of Palermo. The museum is open to the public every day of the week with the following hours: Monday to Saturday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Sunday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM It is recommended to check the hours on holidays or during the summer, as opening hours may be adjusted.

The fantastic collection of puppets and marionettes is worth the price of admission alone. However, if you want to admire the splendor of the family's former private apartments, you won't find them here. Instead, there's a fresh and modern museum with antique vases, sculptures, and stamps.

One of the very few museums in the city open on Sunday afternoons. The collection is varied and interesting, but it's a shame that the guide, Sara, now simply accompanies visitors through the rooms. Her explanations have been replaced by an audio guide, which is obviously much less interesting and engaging than a human explanation. Halfway through, we asked her if she could show us the rooms; I highly recommend it! Check the opening hours to avoid waiting.

Villa Clelia

07/10/2025: Very good food and impeccable service
23/08/2025: As soon as we arrived, we wanted to linger, but in the end we gorged ourselves on the food: to start, they offered us a house appetizer, which was fried shrimp. Then we ordered the lobster Catalana, and my eyes lit up because it was the best I'd ever tasted, also because the onions had a very light flavor that perfected everything. Next up was the cheese-crusted fillet, which was incredibly tender and the cheese melted on top was an aphrodisiac. When a friend of mine received the octopus carbonara, he let me try it, and I had the idea of taking one of the chefs home with me. At a certain point, the mupa tartare arrived. Then I had the citrus ice cream, and that was when I finally satisfied myself.
