Great service and clean rooms, as per the rating he stated! Great location too.

The bathroom's cleanliness didn't fully deserve 5 stars; the shampoo bottles were already open, and there was a hair on the toilet seat. But that's still a high standard. The service was only good at breakfast, but everything was tidy and friendly there. The location is absolutely perfect, right on the edge of the central train station and thus right next to the old town.

Wonderful staff, facilities & location. Finally a hotel with a professional gym, not a cupboard adapted with old equipment.

The location is good. The hotel is nice. The biggest lounge I saw in hotels of Italy. Clean enough but it is visible that they are working hard and business goes not so goed as expected. Nice and tasty breakfast. And be careful with costs. They took my credit card "for a guarantee" and charged money without any word. After asking they explain it was city tax. In the morning we asked about the price for a taxi to the airport and asked to call it. The price in fact was bigger for EUR5-6. In general so small things can make your impressions lower even if money is so different. I would recommend this hotel. But ask to pay more attention to such details.

The hotel meets the standard you would expect from a **** hotel. It is more of a house with the flair of bygone times, but in good condition, the rooms are quiet and have comfortable beds. The location is good if you arrive by train and there is an underground car park for drivers. The city center can be reached on foot in 10 to 15 minutes and the route there is mostly lined with the galleries that Bologna is famous for. We didn't enjoy breakfast as we mostly ate in one of the many bars, which are just as numerous in Bologna as in the rest of Italy.

@ Kat: Functional as it served our purpose. We took different routes into centro each day. We did walk to San Luca. It’s close to the train station / car rental.

An excellent hotel for visiting Bologna and the region: practically in the city center (15 min. to Piazza Maggiore) and 7 min. by Stazione Ferovie (railway station). It's not necessarily a cheap hotel, but it makes all the money. If I come back to Bologna, I will choose him again, without fail.

We were part of the maintenance crew as we found several issues: spotlight hanging out of the ceiling, the same spotlight not working had to be reported explicitly. The nozzles in the jacuzzi were dirty and although I reported them every day they got only cleaner but never completely clean. The personnel was willing and fast, yet still, a hotel with „Royal“ in the name shouldn’t rely on the guests reporting the problems but rather actively looking for and solving them. The breakfast buffet was rich, but every day the same. Also the fitness room was quite worn and indoor bike seats damaged, the straps on the pedals weren’t to find anywhere. The street noise was quite audible into late night. The reviews were good. I stayed for 2 nights when I first arrived in Bologna. The check-in service staff were professional and efficient. The room was comfortable. It had a TV, a hairdryer, a kettle, and large bath towels. The quality of the large bath towels was good. The breakfast was rich, with many kinds of cheese, including ham/bacon/smoked meats, and a dazzling array of desserts. I had breakfast for 2 days before taking turns to finish it. I was really happy! The breakfast cereals are of good quality, and the European bread is also chewy and chewy. I stayed here for 2 nights and had a good experience. I would recommend it!
