Lunch at the top of Montorfano: A pleasant, no-frills stop ​If you've reached the top of the Sacro Monte di Varese and are looking for a place to refuel after climbing the chapels, Ristorante Montorfano is a solid choice, although don't expect culinary fireworks. ​🍽️ The Gastronomic Experience ​The cuisine is honest: we tried several courses, and everything was good, but not exceptional. It's a classic restaurant that does its job well, but without offering that "transcendental" dish that will stay with you forever. Proper ingredients and balanced flavors, perfect for a post-hike lunch. ​👨‍🍳 Service and Atmosphere ​The real strength is the welcome: ​Service: Courteous, attentive staff, and—not to be taken for granted—the wait times were just right. We didn't have to wait ages between courses. Atmosphere: The restaurant has both an indoor and outdoor dining area. ​TIP: If the weather permits, be sure to reserve a table outside when you book. Eating al fresco at this location adds that extra something to the experience. ​⚠️ Warning: Reservations are a must! ​A key detail not to be overlooked: the restaurants at the top can be counted on one hand (there are only 2 or 3). Consequently, finding a table without calling in advance is practically impossible, especially on weekends. Always book! ​In summary: A good logistical solution for those who want to eat seated and be served with courtesy, enjoying the view without too many gourmet pretensions.

I went during the week and there weren't many people. The fried dumplings and cold cuts were good, and the sausage with truffle was fabulous. The artichoke ravioli were very popular. I'll definitely be back.
