On Saturday we had lunch at Ka Voi in Pisa. We won't dwell too much on the location or the dishes, which moreover fully deserve the many positive reviews that are already online. Instead, we want to talk about the human encounter that this lunch gave us.
The restaurant wasn't particularly crowded and this allowed us to spend time talking with the owner, a person who to call "special" would be an understatement: imaginative, yes, but also extremely simple and authentic, with a way of doing things that immediately puts you at ease.
Between one chat and another, we found ourselves talking about life, values, simple but profound philosophy, the kind that comes not from books, but from experience and observation of the world. We saw in him an artist in the purest sense of the word: not only for the cuisine, but for the way of feeling, listening, sharing.
One of those people with whom you stop to talk for a moment... and then you discover that an hour has passed.
More than a review, ours is meant to be a note of merit for the human side of those who, in addition to running a restaurant with passion, also manage to give an experience made of true relationships. And today, that's no small thing.
