04/08/2025: Superb location on the waterfront, ok service and very good food
02/08/2025: We went to "La Spiaggia" on July 19, 2025, for lunch with friends overlooking the Tor San Lorenzo sea.
Preliminary note: if you're looking for a relaxing location, steps from the sand, with tables overlooking the sea and a casual atmosphere, this place is perfect. Don't expect a fine dining restaurant, but it's fine for a simple summer lunch.
The service was average: neither cold nor particularly welcoming, but still adequate. They did their job flawlessly.
Let's move on to the food.
The bruschetta with cherry tomatoes was fresh and well-made, as were the grilled vegetables and the seafood salad, which was honest and unpretentious.
The beans with seafood are an interesting combination, although perhaps a bit heavy for the season.
The fritto misto (battered anchovies and vegetables) was the most successful dish: crispy, dry, and flavorful.
On a negative note, the mussels: I can't say whether they were truly fresh, but personally, they didn't convince me and I wouldn't try them again.
Unfortunately, the spaghetti with clams was also overly salty, which was a shame, because otherwise it would have been delicious.
We spent €40.80 each, there were five of us (the others obviously had different starters than mine), and overall, the price was consistent with the type of lunch, although given the average quality, a small price cut wouldn't have hurt.
Did I like the place? Yes, for the location.
Did I like the food? Adequate, with some ups and downs.
Will we return? Maybe, but we'll choose different dishes.
