Ristorante La Castiglia In Saluzzo

A restaurant with a lovely outdoor seating area, but even more beautiful inside. The dishes we tasted were very good and the portions generous. The service wasn't exceptional, with long waits for starters and between courses, even though it wasn't particularly crowded.

Excellent food and service, perhaps a little long service, but there was a large table. Highly recommended.

Creative dishes, yet fundamentally respectful of local tradition and uniqueness.

Located in the historic center of Saluzzo, this restaurant boasts a quiet and refined atmosphere created by attentive and courteous owners. I enjoyed an excellent veal cheek braised in Barbera wine, tender and delicious, with seasonal vegetables. For dessert, I chose meringue, pistachio, and passion fruit, which was equally delicious. My companion chose fish dishes. I don't remember the appetizer, but I would have tried the breaded sea bream fillet, even though I'm not a fish fan; it looked excellent. It was all accompanied by a glass of red wine, Barbera if I remember correctly, which we were given to taste and served in just the right quantities (two things that don't happen everywhere). The prices were perfectly reasonable. I think I'll return one summer day, perhaps to enjoy lunch on the terrace overlooking Castiglia, the former castle of the Marquises of Saluzzo. If I really had to find a flaw, it would be that they open at 8:00 PM. Personally, I would have dined at 7:30 PM, but it's no big deal.
