I tried this place with my family. There were four of us. We had a fish appetizer without raw fish, two types of pasta, but with shared portions, so we had samples. The fried calamari was always the same. So, these weren't individual portions, but rather a sort of small appetizer in the center of the table to share. The fish was fresh and well-cooked, and the staff, including the owner, were kind and courteous. I have to make a few comments: there are no menus on the table, and they aren't brought even though we asked for them, so you eat blindly without knowing how much you're spending. We paid €100 for four of us, but we only had samples. The price is fair, but don't say they're cheap because if we'd taken the appetizer, first course, and second course seriously, how much would this lunch have cost? Finally, we asked if we could arrange to host my aunt's birthday party there, and that there would be no more than 10 people. They told me to come along without any prior arrangements, as there wasn't any need. In short, blindly paying for 8-10 people, as we did that day, without even the slightest understanding of the costs involved. Good, but not great.

Without a doubt, if you're in Catania and want a good meal, this is a sure bet. Very friendly service. A good variety of dishes, all delicious. I felt like I was in the neighborhood's trusted restaurant. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place.

We had a great time, having a fish first and second course. The food was truly excellent, everything delicious. Prices were very low compared to average. The location was convenient for getting to from the city center. The staff were welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend stopping by!

Il Commercio: Generosity on the Plate, Haste (and Arrogance) in the Dining Room ​The gastronomic experience, as I understand it, isn't limited to what's placed on the plate; it's a delicate balance of atmosphere, hospitality, and respect for the guest's time. At Il Commercio, this balance unfortunately falls apart at the most crucial moment. ​Crossing the threshold, the impact is undoubtedly pleasant for those seeking tradition: the atmosphere is rustic, typical, and exquisitely homey, as it once was. You almost feel at home, enveloped in a quaint and reassuring atmosphere. In terms of cleanliness, the place is fairly average: it doesn't stand out for its obsessive attention to detail, but it certainly can't be described as neglected. ​The kitchen, it must be said, does its job with generous mastery. The dishes are decidedly generous, authentic, and full of the bold flavors you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Even the final bill is a pleasant surprise, with prices that are almost an understatement. If the experience ended there, we'd call it an excellent stop. But it's in the dining room that the sour notes begin. ​What initially seemed like commendable service efficiency reveals itself, upon closer inspection, as an almost obsessive rush. The feeling isn't of being served with care, but rather of being warmly urged to vacate the table in record time. A frenzy so exasperated it borders on rudeness, denying the customer the fundamental right to savor the meal and digest it calmly. ​The situation is drastically worsened by the presence of a figure in the dining room: a young waitress whose attitude is totally incompatible with the art of hospitality. With an air of unbearable haughtiness, she responds to customers with condescending and arrogance, topping it all off with grimaces and gestures that border on pure rudeness. Such behavior is out of place in any context, but it becomes intolerable in a restaurant. It's a real shame, because the rest of the staff—mostly older—stands out for their courtesy, kindness, and absolute professionalism. Will I return? It's a question I struggle to answer. While the cuisine undoubtedly deserves praise, the thought of having to endure such cursory service again, along with the annoying arrogance of those who should be welcoming—and not annoying—the guest, keeps me from giving it a second chance. Good morning everyone, I would like to share a good experience I had at this restaurant on June 2nd... Even though it was a holiday and the restaurant was full, we had a great meal, excellent food, the owner is polite, kind and with a lot of experience and he made us feel at ease, I can say that with a change of 25 euros we really enjoyed it... A historic restaurant with good food. Excellent value. Don't expect a wide selection of seafood; the set menu is very popular. The first courses are excellent.

An Italian restaurant with true soul 🇮🇹❤️ Incredibly friendly service, an authentic Italian atmosphere, and surprisingly affordable prices. Everything is served with a smile, warmth, and passion. This is one of those places where you come for dinner and leave with wonderful memories. An evening spent here is pure joy. I highly recommend it.
