Ristorante Giglio In Lucca

Overall, the food here was very good. We had the tasting menu, and a couple of the dishes were not the tables favorites. Dessert would be considered a "throwaway". However, the most disappointing aspect unfortunately was the service. At a Michelin star restaurant, I love hearing about each course while it's in front of you. Half our table would receive their plates, we'd hear about the course, and then the other half of the tables meal would come out - sometimes quicky other times not so much. Not quite sure why the kitchen was struggling on such a slow night. I probably would pass on this restaurant.

Besides small details that could easily be improved, this place is definitely a go for everyone that enjoy and appreciate a good meal. The food was very well executed and the wine list was amazing! Congratulations to the kitchen, the service and the entire staff because you are doing something very special!

We went for the Classic tasting menu (€60) and a bottle of red wine (€55) recommended by the sommelier. Both were excellent. Four courses, mainly based on local ingredients and traditions. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visit Lucca. The sommelier was helpful in explaining local wines and liquori, as well as customs in drinking.

As soon as you enter, you are greeted by an elegant and at the same time intimate environment, which immediately makes you feel at ease. Service is another strong point of Giglio. The staff is friendly and professional, always ready to offer advice on the best wine pairings and tell the story behind each dish. The passion for cooking and hospitality is palpable and makes the culinary experience even more pleasant. The Giglio Restaurant is ideal for a special evening, whether you are looking for a romantic experience or a banquet with friends. If you are in Lucca, you cannot miss this gastronomic pearl.

The restaurant is vintage and unique place that give you the feeling of old age glory. The postive part is they hire new service staff that are amazing, young, and passionate. For a Michelin restaurant you must at least hire a solid restaurant manager that can give a solid training about art of service and especially attention to details. The food was fresh, well combined, and the harmony of flavor was present in every bite, one thing the 5the appetizer (cold pasta) was not good as the pasta was completely undercooked, it should have 3 more seconds to reach the perfect Al dante. The following is on the service part: 1- greetings and welcoming was not so well. 2- we sat on the table for 10 min no one came to offer us the menu nor water 3- wobbly chair 4- serving the white wine with no napkin, and droplet from the bottle fall on the table. 5- wine was not open on the table to smell the crock, instead was opened inside, then they came to serve it afterwards they brought the ice bucket. 6- no one notice that the wine is empty to fill up 7- general food presentation was acceptable, it can be improved.

Fabulous night at Il Giglio. We loved the decor, delicious food, wine and exemplary service. The €60 4 course degustation (plus a few extra surprises from the kitchen) left us all very full but very happy. Thanks to the Aussies we met in Castellina for the great recommendation ❤️
