Ristorante da Nico e Lilly In Tropea

I ordered the catch of the day, and it was just as good as I hoped—fresh and full of flavor. The staff were super friendly and made the experience even better. The only thing missing was some background music to set the mood. Otherwise, everything was spot on!

We were disappointed after reading the positive reviews. The greeting was not friendly, we were sat on a small table in the corner both looking at a wall. The rest of the restaurant was virtually empty but set out with larger tables. Service was unprofessional and surly. There was no explanation of the menu, and we were asked did we want the pizzeria or restaurant menu - why did we have to choose one or the other? The decor is very hard and brightly lit. The sound is echoing and we heard every word of a conversation at the other side of the room. The staff are unfriendly and don’t smile. My crab pasta was full of whole small crabs, which were inedible. My partner enjoyed his mussels and clams. Overall there was little atmosphere, the staff in the kitchen paid no notice to the customers, they were watching a screen on the pass, and let two young inexperienced individuals struggle. The food was not enjoyable. I told the waiter I wasn’t enjoying it but he just shrugged and walked away. The owners need to consider the customer experience from greeting, ambience, service and food. Edit: The rant below from the owner demonstrates how willing he is to take on feedback. Restaurants are facing tough times and need to take on feedback from customers, not berate them publicly for taking the time to make useful comments. Never mind, there are plenty of lovely restaurants in Tropea.

A perfect dinner in Tropea! I had dinner at Nico and Lilly's and I would like to go back tomorrow but unfortunately I'm leaving my holiday. I chose the fixed fish menu for 39 euros and I was thrilled. Mixed appetizer of very fresh seafood, spaghetti with seafood rich in flavour and a grilled sea bass cooked to perfection. To finish, a fresh and light sorbet. All accompanied by two glasses of wine per person and water, included in the price. The service was attentive, perfect, always with a smile. A simple, authentic restaurant, with a family atmosphere that makes you feel at home. In addition, the restaurant also offers gluten-free dishes and is part of the Italian Celiac Association, an extra guarantee for those with special dietary needs. Highly recommended if you are in Tropea!

Out of the way restaurant but with excellent dishes. I recommend the onion soup, which is not easy to find in Tropea, and the grilled fish, which is very abundant

“More appearance than reality” - that describes this restaurant quite well. It looks stylish from the outside, but unfortunately the food doesn't live up to expectations - the price/performance ratio isn't right. The portion of the ravioli with shrimp and truffle was incredibly small and was eaten within two minutes (22 euros!), and some of the pasta was cold and had apparently been warmed up. The “hamburger” (according to the menu) only consisted of meat + fries (tasted okay), only the pork sausages with baked potatoes were convincing. In some cases a new decision was necessary because several dishes and drinks on the menu were not available. In my opinion, it doesn't fit with the stylish ambience if you get your Coke in a can. The service was solid and the waiter was friendly. Overall, unfortunately not a recommendation.

Locale senza infamia e senza lode. Non ho gradito l'antipasto...nemmeno i primi mi hanno entusiasmata. Il prezzo è OK, servizio gentile e abbastanza rapido. Ma non ci tornerei.

Even heerlijk uiteten. Vriendelijk ontvangst en leuke bediening. De gerechten waren erg goed, maar ook veel. De wijn was heerlijk. We hebben genoten. Echtveen aanrader.
