Kind, attentive and friendly staff, excellent food. We tasted some exquisite appetizers, good first courses and the mixed roast was delicious. I will gladly return, fair value for money. I recommend it... da Carlo is worth it

In its golden age it was an excellent and inexpensive restaurant, a must-stop for us every time we crossed central Sicily. Today it is a good and expensive restaurant. For years, Da Carlo boasted a magnificent table of appetizers and reasonable prices. Today the table has disappeared and the appetizer (in this case bruschetta) is not forced on you, because one can always say no, but certainly proposed with extreme insistence. Insistence and a hasty manner are characteristics of all the staff. Some may even like it, I would prefer a little more courtesy. For two we had:
1. The "proposed" bruschetta.
2. Pasta alla Carlo, truly excellent.
3. Skewers alla palermitana, a misleading title because they were not filled with breadcrumbs, raisins, pine nuts and caciocavallo but with ham and a very fatty cheese that makes them cloying after the first two or three bites.
4. Sliced veal, tough and dry. We pointed this out to the owner, who agreed and insisted that we replace it with a fillet. Now, I may be wrong, but if you, instead of redoing a badly made dish with a well made one, replace it with a different but more expensive dish, good manners would dictate that you charge the more expensive dish at the price of the replaced one. Instead, they charged us for the fillet as a fillet.
5. A radicchio salad without love or flavor.
6. Half a liter of red wine (they don't have quarters).
7. A bottle of water.
8. A coffee. They could have offered it given the mishap with the sliced steak. They didn't.
Cover charge 3 euros per person: like in Taormina but in Pergusa, central Sicily. Total 68 euros.
For us, the era of the Da Carlo restaurant is over.

Welcoming and pleasant place, very friendly staff, we ate bruschetta and artisanal croquettes as an appetizer (must try, absolutely devastating) and then followed with spaghetti allo scoglio (a bit absent the flavor of clams unless they were in the bite) and a paranza (squid a bit soft, succulent shrimps) and finally conclude with tiramisu in a glass with intense cream and well-balanced flavors (I feel like contradicting those in the reviews who say that the portion is poor, it is probably the choice of presentation that makes it seem that way); good experience, we will return to try the meat or pizza.

Locale accogliente, qualità del cibo ottima e quantità discreta. Un pó cara la semplice bruschetta di pomodorini e la grigliata al centro tavola. Camerieri gentili, il proprietario confusionario e poco chiaro e soprattutto voleva convincerci a prendere l'antipasto contro la nostra volontà, e in più lamentandosi della scelta dei primi uno diverso dall'altro; la sorella molto maleducata. Ha interpretato un'espressione personale innocente di mio marito , chiedendo se quell'espressione era riferita alla scarsa quantità delle pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale( che poi realmente era una quantità scarsa di pasta e condimento, rispetto agli altri primi degli altri commensali.) Poteva essere più diplomatica ,anzi non doveva proprio permettersi!
Dolci ottimi ,ma un consiglio: la fetta di torta alla ricotta infornata molto grande, potrebbe essere servita metà pagando meno! Tiramisù e cheesecake al bicchiere (6 euro) per una quantità misera.
Conto un pó caro.
