I was lucky enough to visit the building accompanied by one of the current owners who told the story of the building and his family with verve and sympathy. The ballroom is a wonderful thing that is worth the trip to Catania. Not to be missed place near the pewsce market and facing the sea.

Everyone has already said that it is a beautiful Sicilian Baroque palace and I can only confirm it. The thing that made the visit special was having the owner as a guide: one of those encounters that enhance travel, because it is nice to visit and see but the people you meet along the way are the added value.

Veramente una esperienza immersiva nella storia di Catania. Un erede della famiglia illustra con grande dovizia di particolari gli albori e l'ascesa. Veramente bello e sorprendente il salone degli eventi, con affreschi allegorici al soffitto e quadri dei vari protagonisti del palazzo....una visita da non perdere.

It was built by will of the Paternò Castello family, the princes of Biscari, starting from the late 17th century, lasting for much of the following century, after the devastations of the 11 January 1693 earthquake. The new palace was built directly against the city walls (Charles V's walls), which had partially withstood the earthquake.
