The cuisine is creative, the view spectacular, and the intentions are as good as when we first visited the restaurant 2 years ago. But it’s a constant challenge to maintain standards. On the day of our visit most of the otherwise excellent fish dishes were rather dry, as if they had been cooked (or stored) too long. The service was erratic. With only three tables occupied, how on earth did they manage to make a mistake with the bill, adding 50 euros inadvertently? Fortunately I caught it. The overall impression of the semi-open veranda has suffered from the replacement of wooden chairs with white painted pseudo-bamboo of the kind often supplied by event organizers. Blaring jazz and swing that might enhance an old-fashioned night out seem totally out of place on a hot summer's day on the banks of the River Mera in Lombardy. Every detail counts in the difficult and competitive catering profession and even an excellent restaurant like this needs to make greater efforts to meet clients' expectations.

It's not the first time I've stopped in for lunch and I'm always pleased with both the dishes and the service. Excellent value for money.
