Decent experience, but with some reservations
I had lunch at Ristorante Olivo, right in the center of Lucca, attracted by the central location and the tranquility of the place. The environment is actually pleasant and quiet, ideal for those looking for a break away from the chaos, even if you are in a very busy area.
The service was punctual and attentive in its manner, but overall a bit cold. The waiters were correct and helpful, but that warm and personal welcome that makes you feel truly welcome was missing. This detail, as secondary as it may seem, has a great impact on the overall perception of the experience.
As for the cuisine, the dishes are well prepared and the food is good. You can perceive a certain attention in the choice of ingredients and in the presentation. However, the quality-price ratio leaves some doubts: the bill was rather high compared to what we actually received, both in terms of quantity and originality of the proposals.
Overall, Ristorante Olivo can be a good choice for a quiet lunch in the city center, but there are aspects – such as a warmer atmosphere and a better balance of prices – that could be improved to make the experience truly memorable.

We weren’t planning to eat here—we were just passing by and the atmosphere pulled us in. It felt like a good risk, and it was. Every single thing we ordered was excellent. We tried different seafood pastas and fish dishes, and everything had depth and balance. The tiramisu was unforgettable—probably the best I’ve had, and I’ve had plenty across Italy. We ended up coming back the same evening for dinner. It was even better. More fish, more pasta, another perfect tiramisu. If we’d had one more day in Lucca, we’d have gone back again without a second thought.

Restaurant discovered by chance, to get away from the usual streets beaten by the herd of tourists. The menu attracted us... and we were really happy. Medium-high prices but the quality of the dishes and the attention to the preparation are at the top. Absolutely worth going back...

Nos sentamos al aire libre y es bastante poco inspirador por la noche, ya que el área al aire libre está bloqueada por edificios altos y setos, y te sientas debajo de algunos toldos bastante sabrosos.
El personal era razonablemente amable, pero alguien que debe haber sido el personal o la familia, se sentó cerca mirando o mejor dicho escuchando algunos medios muy fuertes en su teléfono móvil. Y que claramente no querían hablar con los clientes. El personal vio que esto no era muy profesional y fue persuadido a rechazarlo.
La comida era buena, si no excepcional.
De tres noches en Lucca, tuvimos dos excepcionales y esta. Por el dinero, mucho mejor tenerlo en otro lado.

Nice place but rather noisy. On the other hand, the cuisine is excellent, the dishes are varied and fine. We are well above traditional cuisine or revisited to suit the tastes of our time. High quality service. A very very good address!

Malgré les prix élevés nous avons suivi le conseil du réceptionniste de l'hôtel, et nous n'avons pas été déçus . La cuisine est fantastique et le choix de vins impressionnant.
De plus, le service était parfait, et l'atmosphère feutrée très appréciable.

The food (and the recommended wines) were also very delicious. We had friendly and cheerful service throughout. We enjoyed quality and fresh food, so the slightly higher price category was worth it.

Nice higher-end restaurant with pretty plates and we'll executed s a food, terrina, fish, and agnello. Wine program is typical tourist, meaning some good but overpriced wines, and some adequately serviceable young bottles. Professional service but a bit lacking on our night. Excellent scallop starter, delicate and perfectly executed, as was bacala and young lamb.
