Rifugio San Marco In San vito di cadore

It hasn't changed over time: always welcoming, like when I came here with Mom and Dad and my little brothers.

Can't thank the team enough for their warm welcome and service. We arrived very late due to the longer than anticipated AV4 track from Vandelli (be warned much longer than map). Great food and small clean ln riffugio in the perfect location by the path.

One of the most beautiful mountain huts I've ever been to, small and original from the early 1900s by any stretch of the imagination. It can be reached from the Sun Bar above San Vito di Cadore in about two hours, with a 670-meter elevation gain. Continuing, you can reach the Forcella Piccola and then down to Galassi. The view of Antelao is breathtaking. There's a beautiful, well-kept lawn where you can stretch out and relax. The polenta with sausage and ski water are excellent. Friendly staff.

Everything was really awesome about this hut, except for the breakfast which was really simple, and lacked calories. We came here over the Alta via 4 from the rifugio Vandelli which is a long hike (it took us 10 hours, others did it in 9 and others in 12). Great about this trail was that there were hardly any others. It starts with a long, but not super difficult via Ferrata with great views on the whole valley. After that, the hike remains quite technical which leads to the long hiking times even though the distance and elevation isn't that big.
