Rifugio Forte dei Marmi In Stazzema

A beautiful refuge with a wonderful atmosphere, young and friendly management, full of advice for hikers. And, at least for me (and I've visited several), it has the almost unique "sea view," which is certainly not a given from a mountain refuge.

I've known this refuge for a while and have always eaten very well there, so yesterday's lunch left me a bit perplexed. The menu was rather limited: the lasagna was lukewarm and a bit dry, the pork loin was unremarkable, and the side dishes were decent but not particularly noteworthy. The dessert and coffee, however, were good. The price, having increased by a few euros, seemed a bit high for what was offered. I'm writing this as a constructive recommendation because the place is truly beautiful and has great potential: with a few more options on the menu (such as a simple pasta with meat sauce), the experience could be significantly improved. I'll gladly return for another opportunity.

The staff is very kind and attentive. We stayed for a weekend and the rooms were adequately heated. It has everything you'd expect from a mountain retreat. I don't understand those who complain about the prices and the freshness of the bread. We're not in the city and it's about an hour and a half on foot to get there. Let them go to Forte dei Marmi!

This is my first time back under the new management, and my experience was fabulous. As everyone has noticed, the owners are incredibly kind. Their love for the place and the refuge is evident, and I hope they always maintain this enthusiasm! The dinner included with the overnight stay was incredibly plentiful and delicious. It's hard to remember everything you ate! The breakfast buffet was also delicious and excellent. We're already planning our return trip.

I want to share my enthusiasm for the new management of the Forte dei Marmi refuge. I visited them for lunch on a Sunday in January. Overall, the experience was positive! Certainly, some things can be changed, refined, or improved. But I want to praise the energy and hospitality of the new managers! Francesco and Agnese exude serenity when you arrive at the refuge. It's sad to read all these comments from "mountain people" who attack so harshly those who humbly try to do their job. Even though I've never worked in a refuge, I've worked in the restaurant industry for many years. Add to this the difficulty of reaching high altitudes, managing the weather, and so many other issues, and I think it's not easy at all. I urge these keyboard warriors who so courageously and easily pass judgment to keep certain comments to themselves every now and then and perhaps discuss them with the people directly involved in person... Some comments are not only useless but also harmful! Best of luck to everyone! Refugees first and foremost and also to food critics🥸

I hadn't been up to the cave alp for a long time. It was a pleasant surprise to find a warm and welcoming environment, the new refuge keepers were friendly, and the lunch was delicious. An experience worth repeating.
