The Pietra Refuge, located on Via Bismantova 43, Castelnovo Ne' Monti, in the province of Reggio Emilia. They serve excellent food here, and it's located in a charming spot in a mountainous area on the slopes of Pietra di Bismantova. From here, you can go on hikes and climbs, and for those who like a change of scenery, there are also lovely day trips by car along these hairpin bends that lead up to this spot. Getting here is like arriving in a corner of paradise, full of greenery and tranquility. The interior is very welcoming with wooden floors as well as chairs and tables. The room is large and suitable for hospitality, the walls are made of stone and the ceilings are very high, you can also eat outside among tables immersed in nature. In a very enchanting space, and there is full compliance with the anti-covid regulations. The restaurant is already open and closes at 10.30 pm. The cost of a good meal is around 20.30 euros, a more than honest price as well as affordable. Their cuisine is based on excellent raw materials that come from both local and regional production, and many of these products are handmade, especially the pasta, bread and desserts. Here the dishes they offer are always traditional and genuine, reminiscent of the flavors of the mountains. I want to remind you again that here we are immersed in the great valleys and if you come this far you do it to discover the true authentic flavors, if you want then you can calmly set off to discover many villages as well. so as not to forget... passing along ancient mule tracks. All I can say is... come up here to eat well and also to find your serenity.

A refreshing stop during a motorcycle ride! The place, located right under the rock, is really cute and has both indoor and outdoor tables. Fast and efficient service! Good food and excellent value! We spent €30 with an appetizer, first course, second course, drinks, and coffee! Definitely a place to stop!!! We had reservations, and given the time of year and the crowds, I recommend calling and reserving a table!

A simple place with good dishes, from appetizers to desserts. Worth noting is the pecorino cheese tasting menu.

A quick lunch at the Rifugio after a hike to the picturesque Pietra di Bismantova. You can sit inside the rustic interior or outside on the terrace, sheltered by umbrellas. The dishes are quite good (the roast beef was a bit tough; the slices were too thick, in my opinion), but the servings are so-so, and the portions are small. The desserts are good, especially the cakes. The location is beautiful, the service is quick, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Please note that the paid parking lot is at the base of the Pietra, and to reach the Rifugio, you must tackle the steep, uphill asphalt road for about 200 meters.
