A place with a unique view and vibe. Very good food and drinks. The pool is great, too!

I stayed here for 7 days in May for a conference and overall had a good experience. Our room had a great view of the mountains and the bed was very comfortable, although everything in the hotel seemed a bit dated. They cleaned the room each day and we did room service twice and it was prompt and tasty. My husband ate at the restaurant for all meals (really the only food options are the ones on property) and said it was good. The views are amazing! It is very secluded - to get to Lucca it is 100 euro taxi (one way) and to get to Barga it is a 40 euro taxi. We just enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools and then did a bit of walking around the hotel which is very nice but up a giant hill. We also walked to a nice winery that was about a mile away in a small town. The service was excellent at the bar and the front desk- they helped us call taxis when we needed them. Our biggest downside was our shower was either burning hot or freezing cold and the water was basically a trickle.

Our stay at the Renaissance was, for the most part, excellent! Honestly what made a huge difference in our stay, was the Navigator Concierge Manuel, he is awesome, and deserves a raise. Manuel if you're reading this, great job, we'll miss you!! He organized taxis for us, moved existing reservations, and made us feel extremely welcomed. The only negative things we experienced were, the spa and food, we were not prepared for the massage we received, it was way too intimate, and even after my wife and I told the masseuse that we were uncomfortable, they continued to touch us in very intimate places. So prepare yourself if you're not familiar with this style of massage. The food, was shockingly Americanized, and I was surprised that it wasn't higher quality, especially with the town of Barga close by, where we had amazing meals, at restaurants suggested by Manuel. Otherwise, the room, location, and service was exceptional.

Easily the best place we stayed at during our vacation in Tuscany- in terms of beauty of the surroundings. Loved the hotel and the well maintained and appointed rooms. Great views. And good service throughout our stay. What I would expect of a Renaissance brand.

I recently stayed at this amazing hotel and the experience was truly unforgettable. The relaxing atmosphere and the warm welcome of the staff made my stay simply perfect. The rooms were spacious, tastefully furnished and equipped with all modern comforts.
The spa is a true corner of paradise: heated pools, sauna, Turkish bath and a wide range of regenerating treatments that made me feel reborn. The half board package was a real added value. Breakfast offered a rich selection of fresh produce and the evening restaurant served delicious dishes, prepared with high-quality ingredients and a touch of creativity.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to relax and regenerate, enjoying excellent services and an elegant environment with attention to every detail.

Lovely hotel with fabulous views. Rooms are well appointed. The pool in summer can be very popular with queues at opening times (see photos)

We enjoyed an incredible few days at this very scenic hotel during the off-season (early April) but would recommend taking into consideration a lot of context before deciding whether this is the place to spend money on an Italian holiday.
Location: Pros — the scenery is stunning! The pool wasn’t open when we stayed but the views from the pool deck are unmatched. There are many vineyards/wineries and some olive oil farms to visit nearby. Cons — it’s pretty difficult to get to by either train or car because it’s quite a distance from all major cities and the drive is either through windy mountains or taking a long detour to stay on the interstate (which I’d highly recommend considering we found ourselves driving through a blizzard 30 minutes after it was 60 and sunny).
The last ~10 mins of the drive up to the hotel are windy and hilly but very manageable. We and other guests had a VERY hard time understanding where we were intended to park and finding reception. I imagine this may be different in the high tourist season, but there were very few employees around when we drove up, so we parked alongside the road and pulled our bags out of the car. We spent 10-15 minutes looking for reception, which was easily a 150 meter walk from the road/parking. There are a few signs at the outset for reception, but then they stop and it’s confusing — orient toward the revolving door with a large doormat that says “Renaissance” at the far end of the courtyard.
Staff/service: All staff was generally kind and they were helpful with making bookings for the spa, local wineries, and such. However, they were never particularly attentive. For example, several times the front desk was left unattended and it was tough to find an employee and the staff in the restaurant at breakfast was often absent, making it difficult to get seated or order if not doing the buffet (except for Angela who is very lovely).
Restaurant: The breakfast buffet was expansive and very good! The dinner food was pretty poor. There aren’t a lot of restaurants nearby (especially during the spring, when a lot is closed), so I’m not sure if you will find much better nearby, but we tried to avoid eating at the hotel because it was 2/5 or 3/5 food.
Rooms: The rooms are very nice, especially the bathrooms and closets. An important note is that the views are great if you are looking toward the mountains but the windows are only french doors and they aren’t very wide, so the rooms don’t have much sunlight and you don’t get an expansive view unless you step out onto the patio.
We enjoyed our stay, but I would be mindful about recommending whether others spend a lot for a holiday here.

The hotel is a peaceful serene get away! Maria was phenomenal and made our experience amazing! She went out of her way to educate us about Lucca and Barca and helped us visit both destinations by arranging transportation and giving great recommendations. She truly made our stay special! The staff was very helpful. The location is a perfect place to relax and enjoy! Highly recommend!
